If you were accepted to all three, where would you go and why?

It would depend on major. SD for most sciences, LA for business......they clearly have their areas of superior academics.

It depends on your preferences. If you want a residential campus where all students live on or very near campus, UCSB. If you prefer an urban environment (or at least nearby access to one) UCLA. If you're in a major one of them is particularly strong at, say theater, then pick the best school for that.

Kirmum, UCLA does not have an undergrad business major. I'm firmly in the camp that believes that business should be a graduate professional degree, but this policy is a pain to UCLA athletics boosters because so many athletes want an undergrad business degree.

Leggo, it does depend on what you want and why. You have presented insufficient data.

but UCLA does have a business economics degree

It's my understanding that the "bizecon" major is the hottest undergrad ticket at UCLA.

maybe but it is competitive to actually get INTO the major (many are pre-bizecon but do not get accepted into the actual bizecon major).

Don't know which one I'd take...probably SB or LA just because I like the campus life so much and both are great for an econ major (i know la is better academically) but SD is a great school too so I don't know. I probably won't have to worry about being accepted to all of these :/

Kfc, the biz econ major is one b*tch of a major...not what the athletic recruits are looking for. :(

aww man, thats not too encouraging since i was thinking of switching into that major since so many people on CC talk about how successful business majors and MBAs are compared to law grads and others. ugh i hate how CC influences me!

to my understanding, psych is the most popular major in terms of numbers at UCLA. Bizecon probably is up there as well, but I'm with TheDad - I think business should be a solely professional degree. And LA has Anderson for that haha.

TheDad I wasn't asking which one was better for me, I was asking each individual that came into the thread where THEY'D prefer to go and why.

If I didn't live in San Diego, I'd probably pick UCSD. I haven't visited Santa Barbara, but it's reputation of being too much of a party school makes me not want to go there. So I guess I would go to UCLA even though my brother goes to USC and we'd have some major sibling rivalry.

As far as the feeling of the campus, I definitely like UCSD. I'm pretty outgoing and at SB, everyone was pretty cold and not as friendly as SD and LA. It really depends on your major and what youre looking for.

I have been to all of these campuses more than once and I think most of the comments here are fair, but i thought I would try to grade them all based on social, beauty and majesty.

Scale is 1-5, 5 being the best.

UCLA: S-5, B-3, M-4
UCSB: S-5, B-4, M-3
UCSD: S-4, B-3, M-2

or... UC Berkeley?

exilio, your social score may be a bit high for the University of California, Socially Dead (UCSD). ;)

all jokes aside, i heard ucsd is really socially dead, and to confirm, all my friends at ucsd complain about the lack of social atmosphere at ucsd. it seems as if all they hang out with are people who went to the same high school as they did!

I'd pick UCSB just because I want the typical college experience while still having a good education. Living in Los Angeles, every day I realize how superficial people are around here, and most everyone is a struggling actor, this isn't the case at UCLA, but it's just that I wouldn't want to be in LA.

UCSD has no social life, so you won't see me there.

lol Those are the only 3 UCs I applied to. Interesting replies.

If I get accepted to all three (fingers crossed!), I'd probably go to UCLA. The closest I've been to any of those was UCSB when I visited relatives in Goleta. UCSD only has one major that I really want, so I'd definitely pick either UCLA or UCSB over it.
1) UCLA
2) UCSB
3) UCSD

Liek, you sound like your ripe for leaving CA and seeing the rest of the world. Have you applied out of state? My oldest really regrets not having done so. Next in line is headed to NYC which she thinks is the LA antidote!
