I feel like the admissions office is giving us all different answers because I also called today and they said that they probably already started since the SIR date has passed and should keep going throughout May but we haven’t seen anything since May 1st. Maybe the people who man the phones just try to give an answer to appease us and keep us off their backs for a while? :-/
I know, some of the answers don’t correlate at all…I haven’t heard any news of anyone else getting off the waitlist either. I’m getting super anxious! #-o
Guys I hate to be negative but remember that it is possible that nobody will be accepted off the waitlis… ;(
@kaatherinee just curious, where did you hear that UCI was overenrolled?
isn’t that what private colleges would do? Public schools like UCLA must left some spaces opening…
@godzilla24 In the housing email they sent out, it stated that due to an “increased interest in UC Irvine as a first-choice campus” more housing will be available. So basically they’re opening a lot more freshman housing (apartments too) to accommodate for an unexpectedly large amount of freshman, even though they just opened a new freshman dorm.
I heard that the UCI had the same problem with housing last year also and they had to put some freshmen in upperclassmen housing or convert double rooms into triples to make space
Im curious as to why ucla is taking so long with their waitlist while other schools have released

@crossovercuber dont lose hope completely man, berkeley last year didnt start until may 6th and they ended up accepting more than half of the waitlisted kids

@superkunoichi yes…stalking here for my twin sister. She is on the waitlist. I am through. If i am not too wrong, class of 2019 waitlist had not 1 engg undergrad hopeful get off the waitlist. So we have no literally no hope:(
