It’s sad to see less qualified out of state/internationals taking these spots over qualified California residents just because they pay more to the university.
Before people start jumping at me there has been proof that the non-California admits are generally under qualified and actually the UC is getting sued this year because of it.
For sure… In State – unweighted 4.0 ACT 35 well rounded activities, sports, leadership – waitlisted… So sad and disappointed.

Our school is top 1 in Taiwan, so I think the reputation did HELP.
And I will say the 7000 characters letter is really important and I worked hard on it!!
Good luck to u and pm me if u want to know more~~
To all you California kids who did not get into your choice of California University with good stats after working diligently for four years in high school please remember that you should be proud of all your accomplishments and that you will most likely succeed in life because this is what you do. You should also remember exactly how you feel right now, and once you overcome this “rejection” you should most definitely do something about it. Vote people that will reform this ridiculous system into office and vote the idiots that passed you over in favor of students with inferior stats, whose families don’t even pay taxes in California, out of office. If you don’t do something about it, the “injustice” will most likely continue forever.
Have a lot of you still not heard back yet? I wanted to wait to do housing and all for the school I committed to, but it looks like LA isn’t really concerned with how late they are–so long as they meet their June 1st deadline.
I don’t know when the rest, if any, of the responses are going to come out. Considering tomorrow is a holiday
@Masr98 I mean they get back to everyone regardless of admission status don’t they? It’d be pretty unprofessional to leave us hanging and ignore their own deadline.
From reading this thread, some have said that there’s a potential that the waiting will exceed the 1st
Well, today is supposedly the last day. Good luck to all and remember that it doesn’t matter where you start, but where you end up ! Goodnight to all, God bless
Today is the housing deadline for UCSD. There is a $450 deposit that needs to be put down and it’s non refundable. I need LA to respond today today this is getting ridiculous
I wish we could know already
Its high time
@Masr98 It is partially refundable, but after today $250 cancellation fee. It is ridiculous. I got an email from admissions (after inquring) this morning where they said they don’t have any information regarding the waitlist (after I asked if they were going to meet their own deadline and mentioned the non-refundable stuff: orientation/housing) and that they are “still trying to process academic changes for admitted students” due to the holiday…
Long time reader, but first time poster in this thread. I just called admissions and apparently the June 1st deadline has been extended to the end of this week. The waiting game continues but hopefully a big wave will come out at the end of it
@arknight12 so for freshman waitlisters, the person u talked to said we would hear by the end of this week??
Yes, that’s what the admissions person said
Did anyone hear anything today?
Still pending @jindaltanya
the wait is so killerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
I got accepted off the wait list today! Whew I thought I had to settle for ucsd

My extracurricular activities weren’t exactly stellar (joined 3 clubs, volunteered at a local organization, won several awards state/nationally in debate, no solid leadership position whatsoever); my essay was pretty good (enough not to keep me from getting rejected)
Well after this mass shooting maybe more people will turn UCLA down, opening more waitlist spots
