Tbh not really because stuff like this happens anywhere. And after all it’s not a mass shooting if 2 people are dead but still significant
@FellowFromLA Are you for real?
(If you had those stats, you could not have been waitlisted!)
Yes for real. Computer science is insanely competitive in almost all universities apparently. My friend didn’t get in with similar stats (2250 SAT iirc) in UCLA so getting rejected with these stats is not unheard of. Other majors within UCLA might have been easier and I would have gotten in without waitlists had I chosen a different major to begin with.
@pleaseacceptme99 Never have i seen such ignorance in a comment before. That is the worst thing I have ever heard. and @FellowFromLA lmao UCSD CS is comparable if not better than UCLAs. You can’t say you “settled” for something.
The suspense! I looked at the stats and the annoying part I saw was that only about 44% that came off the waitlist actually ended up going so around 300 students that joined the waitlist deprived other student that really wanted to go. if i get in i promise not to insult you guys by not going at all.
@pleaseacceptme99 i doubt it, most probably turned in their SIRs. Lightning is said to only strike the same place once.
@jindaltanya nothing yet. are you a freshman/transfer and what major?
@“Judy Zhang” wow, why did you opt to waitlist if you had good scholarships from us?.I hope you r happy that you took up one spot.
@theresonator i’m a freshman
My major is Neuroscience
What about yours?
@jindaltanya Transfer, in state, chem engineering. you’ll probably hear tby the end of this week. As for me I’m sure they will string me along until the end of this month. I think you’ll have a better chance than I, freshman seem like they are getting first pickings.
@i2400ezpz I think your comment about @FellowFromLA is rude. He/She can say she settled if UCSD wasn’t her dream school. You say I’ll settle for _____ when you don’t get what you want, so yes she can say she settled for something. I didn’t take her comment in the same negative light as you did.
^ @FellowFromLA Your stats overall is better (except for SAT l) than my daughter’s who got in with Regents scolarship last year! That is why I was surprised to see you waitlisted!
(Good to see you got in after all)
@Davallia true. To clear the misconception I really didn’t fit in and won’t find myself happy in UCSD as compared to how it felt like home in UCLA @uclaparent9 ya…it depends on major. People are starting to realize how valued compsci majors are and so they join the bandwagon even though a decent amount don’t actually like compsci; hence the fierce competition this year
Still nothing. I don’t think there was ever an instate frosh wave
@i2400ezpz there’s nothing ignorant about my comment. It’s an insensitive joke at worst.
Your responses to many of the posts on CC are regularly based on Erroneous interpretation of the text on your part.
Take the stick out of your ass
@duffer21 probably not. They want to get as many out of staters as they can to balance their budget, no matter how unqualified they are compared to the general instate admits. (Proven not hearsay; check lawsuit against the UC)
Exactly ^ it’s sad how money plays a role in our education. But money influences everything nowadays. I just hope they take us soon. That will be some crazy news.
Just got accepted off from the waitlist!!! YEAAAAAAAAA
btw I’m an international student
so excited but still deciding on between ucla and korean universities
@unidentifiable What major?
It’s undeclared letters and science
