@pleaseacceptme99 But still, just the fact that other students are feeling attacked is reason enough for me to try and console them. Just because you may not think some posts are considered hate, they easily could be by someone else. It’s not their fault that the system is pretty skewed but that doesn’t mean they’re any less worthy of being there. And before the “fact” that the stats of out of state students are lower than in state is slapped into my face, I just wanna say that I really do believe that applicants can’t be properly summed up by numbers. Even though I think I have pretty good stats, I would hate it if someone thought I was intelligent based solely on what my SAT score was. The budget stuff just means that they’ll be accepting great out of state students before accepting in state students of the same caliber (in my opinion). The only problem is that we don’t know exactly how they assess a student’s caliber.
And trust me, I’ve researched plenty on the subject so please don’t call other people ignorant based on a single post.
“But still” That’s how you’re going to start your response? ? hahahaha
You just don’t get it, so I won’t bother explaining why everything you just said is off.
Goodluck on getting in off the waitlist and if you already did, well goodluck at UCLA. You’ll need it darling.
I’m dead
It seems that more than likely a lot more oos / int will be accepted
I also spoke with an admissions officer and she said they are extending the decision deadline but haven’t decided a specific end date
Good luck and congrats grads !!
Just wondering, how do you guys know that the stat of oos/int are lower than that of instate kids?? I read this thread for few months but I just joined to write this comment b/c I dont want this thread where some ppl get offended. (BTW I am also in state student) I wish we can help each other to deal with this stressful situation. Apparently, UCLA does not post SAT scores of freshman class based on their residential status. However, Cal does. When I see Cal’a website, there was almost no difference between their test scores and GPA. I dont think UCLA’s freshman profile would be completely different from Cal’s. I know that there are many news articles saying those things about oos admisson, but there is no numerical evidence. Also, I know that many of instate student with great test scores and essay are waitlisted, and some of oos/in state kids who got in might have slightly lower stats. However, Sat scores of my friends who go to UCLA vary from 1600 to 2400 and I personally know oos kid who got above 2300, so we cannot generalize that oos kids usually have lower stats than in state kids. Everyone who go to UCLA has a reason that he or she got in. My college advisors at HS Is a former college advisor at one of ivy schools and she said that stats are not the only factor in admission process. Again, I am very stressful about this whole situation and UCLA should stop torturing us, but let’s stop arguing on something that can offend other ppl. Congrats to all the instate/oos/int student who got off the waitlist! You deserve it! And for ppl who are still waiting for good news (including myself!!!), we did our best and we will have so much fun no matter where we end up going this fall!
hey guys I was just wondering. Did anyone received notifications after June 1st despite being admitted or rejected?
Just got accepted to college of letters and science-undeclared
Good luck to all of you guys! Don’t lose hope!
@superkunoichi OOS or in-state?
international @potternerd786
Good luck to everyone, I was OOS accepted in the very first wave but still following this thread, godspeed.
@Halloffame101 look up the lawsuit the UC is facing about this
They use the waitlist as a way to balance out the budget after regular admissions why do you think they’re so late with the waitlist acceptances they need to crunch numbers first
People in regular acceptance from oos probably do meet qualifications
All I’m saying is from the waitlist they definitely are letting less qualified oos instead of in state to balance their budget
Guys, arguing is pointless. It’s not going to change/influence decisions and the prayers won’t be heard by the “college Gods” so to speak to amend these big picture problems that everyone is speculating. I’m just as anxious and distraught as all of you but let’s all be a safety cushion for each other for moral support. While I’m upset that I’m in this frustrating limbo for so long, I’m beyond excited for everyone who got in. I hope you all find success and happiness and a fantastic fit at any university you end up at. Because honestly, from reading what schools everyone is going to if this waitlist doesn’t work out, we’re all going to be more than fine regardless. Continue to wish me luck and let’s all revisit simplicity and contentment in everything we’ve been so blessed with thus far. None of us is a number or a statistic, we’re human beings with boundless potential. Best of luck to everyone, let’s reserve this thread as a means of consolation and advice and unwavering support. We may be strangers to each other but we’re human beings as well. And serving each other’s needs should be a base instinct
Accepted to College of Letters & Science for Biochemistry yesterday!
OOS Applicant! Good luck to everyone still waiting!
@ray2592 what time did you receive it?
I’m wondering if I should quit checking ALL day and only in mornings
I literally check my email and portal every half hour
I’d just like to know why UCLA has not contacted us or even updated the portal about Waitlist decision dates. The portal still says that decisions will be released throughout the month of May. It’s unprofessional and a bit rude for those who have to pay fees/dues for a different committed university. Not saying that I probably got in, but it’s just very inconvenient for me to pay all these fees with UCLA still on the waitlist. At least reject me already? Or contact me about something?? Seriously.
@KbbGrizzly totally agree! After June 1st rolled around I just assumed no response meant no. Really upsetting
Also just general response to all the in state/out of state drama, just know that the sample of students on this thread is likely not representative of all people who were waitlisted
I can’t sleep because of this anxiety
Did an engineering applicant here till now?
@Rohitmohit Nope, i feel like we are going to be last. Plus they are extending their own deadline of acceptance. That could be good or a bad thing. Hopefully it is because they have many spots to give, they are also balancing their budget. I need to call them today because this is getting ridiculous . Students need to start making plans on where to find a place to stay and other stuff that comes wit moving especially if they are international or out of state, i am an hour away from LA and I’m still pissed that if i get in i will have a hard time finding a place so late now.
does anyone know when is the last day they are accepting students?
