@pleaseacceptme99 I thought you said he/she got in? Anyways, its pretty dumb how they let so may people waitlist and the majority do not get in. Ive seen people get rejected in July which I think is rude of them to make them wait so long just to reject them.
@theresonator my friend from out of state got in. Not my friend from my high school in Cali
@theresonator It’s normal for selective colleges not to accept the majority of students off a waitlist…
@AbuMomo yea i know, But i was complaining about the time it took them
@theresonator Fair enough. best of luck to you and everyone else, wherever ya’ll go.
i’m actually really really depressed about getting rejected off the ucla waitlist… it’s dumb to be despondent over this especially now but everything about it is ideal to me & the outcome makes me regret a lot of things i’ve done & wish i did them differently & now i’m taking out so much money just to go to UCSD OOS when at the end of the day i feel like i’m just settling
Has the waitlist been closed?
I just withdrew from UCLA.
@nshepherd929 Unless your intended major (Business Economics) was a very competitive field, I don’t see how UCLA can not accept you with your stats. Weird that you got wait listed from both UCLA and UC San Diego. I am sure there are some reviewers who are “biased” to like certain types of applicants; maybe you just got unlucky. Yeah, I get how you feel about UC Irvine. I live near UC Irvine, and I don’t think their campus is all that nice. Just doesn’t have that college feel to it.
The only slightly negative thing I can see from your resume is that almost all your ECs are academic-related and run of the mill type of ECs and not really related to your intended major area. That’s the only potentially negative thing I noticed. However, I have seen applicants with even better stats than yours get denied by UCLA/UC Berkeley but that was because their intended major area was Comp Sci or a very, very competitive area. I don’t think Business Economics is a super competitive major at UCLA, so maybe it was due to biased reviewers who just didn’t like you. When it’s said and done, it comes down to how much these reviewers identify with you and like you.
Where did you ultimately end up going?
PS. I am glad that starting this year, UCs changed their essays into more substantive questions. I think it’s now much tougher to BS your way into acceptance if you don’t have facts to back up your claims.
Hi everyone, I’m going to a csu right now and I was wondering if anyone knows how I can find out whether my classes will transfer or not? Also what classes I should be taking? Everything I’m finding only shows if community college classes transfer.
I got waitlisted. I’m kind of surprised actually… My SAT scores were quite depressing (1270). I’m a dual citizen (Asian, Arab and US citizen - Pennsylvania resident). And I go to school abroad.
I am currently doing the IB diploma (biology HL, chemistry HL, maths HL) and am predicted 40 points (exams next month) :((
However, I am quite active in terms of extracurriculars. I have been awarded with several international awards (mainly in photography), and I play an active role in school sports. I also regularly volunteer.
But I think the waitlisted is as far as I’ll get.
I only applied to 2 uni’s: UCLA and UPitt. I was going to apply to CMU, NYU and UM but I recieved my admission letter to UPitt before I submitted those applications, so I didn’t apply to those uni’s.
My eyes are pretty much set on UPitt because it is more economical (in-state tuition after financial aid and grants is estimated to be $10,000) and convenient (I have relatives there so I won’t need to pay for housing, and I will feel much safer with relatives especially since I am a Muslim woman wearing a hijab). So if I do (by some miracle) get off the waitlist, I might not accept the spot. Unless financial aid is high.
