UCLA's September Open House-worth attending?

Is this worth attending if a student's never been to UCLA? Or is it just a mob of people and not much good info that couldn't be gotten elsewhere?

Is there a better way to get to know UCLA? Or is it ok to just wait to visit if a student gets accepted?

This is exactly what I want to know. Anyone have thoughts on this??

My son’s full time at the local community college, but a senior in high school, and UCLA is coming to the campus. I know it’s for transfer students, but I’m thinking he can just go talk to the admissions people anyways rather than drive 2 1/2+ hours to campus. If he was accepted, then he could go visit…unless people say this is worthwhile.

Having just come from an orientation at UCLA I can say the events are very well run. Depending on how high the school is on your list, it can be difficult to make a decision in the spring if you are racing from one school to the next to make a very important decision based on one visit after admission. See as many schools on your list as you can, so come spring you arrive for your second visit well informed and ready to decide. Good luck!
