UConn Admissions Decisions

S got his letter today - wait listed (waves goodbye)

Son accepted at UCONN week ago and two other colleges. But he is going to Dickinson College instead. We just found out about Dickinson this morning. We will convey our decision to UCONN tonight.

@reenski We are in-state.

Woo uconn class of 2018! anyone thinking of joining a learning community?

I really want to get into Global House. Community Service was a close second.

Ohh I’m probably doing global house too!

My son is very excited to be in the Living/Learning Community with the Honors Program. Very excited for all of you! All good things ahead for the Class of 2018! :D

Got branched to Stamford, anyone going there now? How is it there?
My only other application was to Fairfield University, should I go there and transfer later?

I also received the Presidential Scholarship for 10K a year, so I would have liked to use that towards Storrs, but that scholarship would basically cover my Stamford costs…

@f0rest, are you from CT?

@martynajl Yes I am.

@f0rest, how the heck did you get branched AND get a Presidential scholarship?

@reenski That’s what I’m saying.
I’m a high school senior attending a technical high school instead of a regular one, do you think that may be why?

So you are either #1 or #2 in your class @f0rest to receive that award…I would contact their office to find out why. Good luck!

D was branched to Stamford. Complete shock as this was supposedly a safety for her per her guidance counselor and Uconn admission rep. 4.1 GPA. 1850 SATS. 5AP’s this year. Two of her classmates got into Storrs with 3.4 and 1500 SATS and zero AP’s. We are appealing for the point of it but she is leaning towards UDEL even if by remote chance they overturn the decision. She fell thru the cracks apparently. We would be fine if we didn’t know that these other students were picked over her with clearly lower stats. It’s hard to understand this. Very disappointed in their system.

Ctmom977, I would be disappointed too. Very surprised that she got branched. Good luck!

Just paid the deposit! GO HUSKIES!!! Class of 2018! Now I can relax.

…headed there Thursday for a tour. We will see…

My son is headed back for another look on Admitted Students Day on the 12th and then Husky for a Day on the 15th. Lots of campus re-visits going on.

I’m sure admitted students day at Uconn will be packed. My nephew went 3 years ago and said it was very busy However, if your undecided you should go, or do the Husky for a day program. I may have my son do it, even though two of his cousins go there and two of my brothers did years ago. I think it’s a very solid choice for kids who want a “big” university in a rural area.

@miesha5 – My S was just accepted at Syracuse – after full-out rejection at UConn. Who knows what these schools are thinking? Our HS guidance dept. shows Syracuse to be more difficult to get into than UConn so this was a pleasant surprise. May you have some pleasant surprises as well!
