UCONN class of 2022

Congrats to you too @vanillaice! Good deal @Rubix1 !

@nyknicks1000 There was nothing about financial aid. Just a three paragraph letter. First one said the basic “congrats on admission to College of Liberal Arts/ polysci major etc”. Second paragraph outlined the scholarship offer amount and parameters and honors college offer. Third was about how to enroll and knowing the offer is contingent upon graduating etc. So basically the admission letter contains any merit aid offer. You shouldn’t have to wait until mid-March. Or so it seems.

Ok thanks for the info! @Rubix1

@Rubix1 where are you located/ I’m in the DMV and didn’t receive anything in the mail this morning

Just realized i probably didnt get any merit since i dont have the new admit scholarship under financial aid which sucks. I read on Uconn website that if you get merit it would be posted on there under financial aid, but i dont have it. :frowning:

Can confirm merit scholarship info and honors program invitation is contained in the welcome letter. Son received his this morning. We are in-state.

My daughter got an email telling her that she would get financial aid info mid March.

Got the letter in the mail today for my Son. In-state. In the letter it said he will be awarded 7500 per year merit scholarship, it said we will only know later about who the supporters of scholarship. It also said he is selected for Honors Program.

Those of you that got merit aid in mail, does it says new admit scholarship in portal under financial aid? Did not get acceptance in mail today so im curious since i have to wait till monday

@nyknicks1000 Yes. The portal was showing the link ‘new admit scholarship acceptance’ sine the beginning of the last week.

@4kidscarj Thanks, what a great idea! @Rubix1 That’s wonderful. Congratulations! I take it that was in the mail? We did not get mail from UConn today.

My son’s letter reflects the same info @ctDad5772 referenced and is merit scholarship award info only, not need-based financial aid. My son had/has the scholarship link on his portal.

I didn’t get any merit and honestly I’m confused as to why considering I’ve been accepted into 9 other schools and out of those 8 of them gave me merit?? I got merit from Providence College, UNH, Umass Amherst, URI, Fairfield, Quinnipiac, Duquesne, and University of Delaware, the only school I didn’t get merit from is Villanova. I also got into the honors program at 7 schools. Honestly really confused about this and kind of disappointing because it crosses Uconn off of my list.

@mkcblackberry I know how you feel. The same thing appears to be happening at so many colleges (my son included), not that it makes it better. My son received pretty generous merit awards to almost every school he applied to, but didn’t get money to his top contender. I chalked it up to fate and that fact that he was not meant to be at a school that didn’t show him love. Wishing you the best of luck!

UDel was quite generous with financial aid, as was Temple. Rutgers gave my D nothing but we are in state and weren’t expecting it. Rutgers is still cheapest even without financial aid. I am going to call on Monday and find out for sure but I guess my daughter would have the scholarship link if she got anything. What a shame. Doesn’t eliminate UConn entirely but sure makes it a less attractive option. Still waiting to hear from two private colleges.

I have a 3.8 uw and 4.3 w gpa, also have a 1480 sat and the average sat for the honors program is 1400 idk just confused. Guess UCONN wasn’t right for me!

@mkcblackberry are you in state or out of state?

We didn’t get mail from UConn today, so don’t know yet about any merit aid. But out of curiosity, has anyone who has the “New Admit Scholarship Acceptance” link on their portal clicked “accept” at the bottom of that document just to see if there’s another page? Afraid to click “accept” since S hasn’t decided yet if he will enroll at UConn. Can anyone help?

My son got into Honors with Stem scholarship. He has gotten larger merit scholarships elsewhere but bc we are instate UCONN is still the better deal for us. We got more from UCONN than we expected. He is super excited.

We are still waiting on Villanova, LeHigh and Bucknell.

@mkcblackberry seems like it is happening to everyone!! my son accepted into three and waiting for results from two more private colleges. He got merit/honors from Quinnipiac and Uconn. Nothing from IU. He liked IU more but it is OOS the cost is double the UCONN, now I have to cross of IU. It only makes sense to pay that much for a IVY league or similar colleges
