UCONN class of 2022

We are in state and still have not received the official snail mail letter. So no idea on honors or merit yet.

the Financial Aid they say will be available mid-March will be the need based grants, work study and loans it seems. Does anyone know if the info is typically available on portal first or by mail? Feel incredibly lucky that D received merit money as it seems especially competitive this year!

Okay I am genuinely confused is to how I got 0 money in merit aid, perhaps it was due to strong applicant pool but even then.

1510 superscored SAT
3.67 UW 4.3 W (8 AP multiple honors including senior year courseload)
A job, varsity sport, multiple clubs / leadership position.

I thought my application was a strong one for the Honors program, guess not. (in-state)

@oof123 I don’t understand how I didn’t get any either, compared to some of my friends who have lower stats than me and no activities… makes no sense, don’t think I can afford it unless they don’t give me grant money… I might have to talk to financial aid

My son made it into honors with similar stats to yours (4.45 GPA and 1530 SAT) but I have a friend whose daughter did not so she talked to someone about it and they told her to even be considered you have to be in the top 5% of your class so if your child is not in the top 5% of the class they will not be considered no matter what their stats are.

@deebmc I do not believe that the top 5% of class statement is accurate. My son was admitted into STEM Scholars in the Honors Program and was awarded a STEM Academic Excellence Scholarship (just received the letter yesterday) . We are in state and he’s in the top 10% of his class but not the top 5%.

Has anyone been accepted to the Special Program in Law?

My daughter was accepted for civil engineering…shes beyond thrilled as UConn her top choice. But…looks like no merit, since letter mentioned zilch. She had substantial awards from many schools, but mostly privates (Quinny, Seton Hall, Manhattan, LeMoyne) Really hoping they give her some financial ais to make this possible. Wondering if I should just go ahead and make the deposit?

Teachermom72~ it is my understanding that financial aid will come out mid March. Congrats on your dd’s acceptance to her first choice. Excellent engineering school.

Merit awards and scholarships came out with the letter.

This may be a dumb question, but what if a sizeable amount of kids who got into honors dont go to UCONN. Did they already account for this in their acceptances and overaccpet people for honors, or will they offer more spots to others (I know it’s a shot in the dark just wondering)

Did anyone else not get the official letter yet? We are in state and it makes no sense to me that we didn’t get it yet. My neighbor’s daughter got hers two days ago so I know it’s not our local USPS.

Received 15k in merit aid, and I’m stoked! I am nowhere near deciding what school I would like to attend, this is my 4th acceptance, but still waiting on 8 more decisions…

I am In Ohio and have still not gotten my letter.

@lkdlkd00 Congratulations!

Accepted to STEM Honors with 10k/year. I wanted to go to the bsmd program there, so I probably won’t be accepting. Still nice to know they’re thinking of us in-staters lol. Seems like they hand out a lot of aid to OOS, I guess to supplement the higher tuition.

Did you hear back about the BS/MD program?
I thought the letters weren’t coming out for another few weeks?

Accepted OOS! Got my letter Monday 3/5.

Financial Aid Package is available now for my son! He received an email around 4:30. And it is available on the portel when I checked it.

We are In-State, son was accepted to honors program for college of engineering - all he got was the 7500.00. Disappointed as well - noticed lots more $ going to Oos applicants… is this typical for UCONN?

@Jenny27 as an in-state student your son is getting a much cheaper package than my OOS D with her $18.5k merit award even if he were paying full in-state prices. As it should be. Her scholarship makes UConn a viable option because she doesn’t qualify for any need based aid and most of her chosen schools don’t give merit scholarships. So her choices will be to pay $55k and up for another college or go to UConn for $37k. We’re still waiting to hear from other schools but her most economical choice so far is UConn. Her top choice at the moment is Yale-NUS in Singapore, which oddly enough is more affordable than schools here in the US. We are trying to focus less on the financial implications of her decision and let her focus only on the right choice for her future - given all the hard work it took her to get here. I’m thinking I need to be more concerned about my balance of frequent flyer miles over my bank account! A 90 minute drive to UConn is another perk - but I’m keeping quiet for now.
