@newenglandmom1 We are in state and my son received a STEM scholarship greater than $7500 per year.
We received the snail mail packet today, but there is nothing about merit aid. It says we will hear later in March. Nothing on the portal either. We are OOS.
Snail mail Saturday gave $15,000/year. Yes accept aid button was on portal. OOS 1400 SAT, 30 ACT, 4.36, Smeal Management major.
My son’s acceptance letter arrived in the mail today. We are in state and he was award $10k annual scholarship and STEM Scholars within the honors program.
@momof1b1g We also went to the UDel accepted student’s day and were very impressed. My daughter loved UConn also. The only drawback she felt for UConn was the remote location as opposed to UDel which has the town right integrated into the campus.
@nursing2022 My daughter was accepted to nursing as well. Have you narrowed it down? Mine is having a tough time deciding.
Just got my son’s acceptance into mechanical engineering. OOS with a $15k a year scholarship. That brings it to the same as our NJ instate tuitions.
I got my snail mail but it didn’t mention anything about merit. I’m OOS and was really hoping for at least a small scholarship. I have a 3.9 GPA and 32 ACT. I know it’s super competitive this year but I’m disappointed
My S is in the same boat as you, @neuroscience27. Our mail hasn’t come yet but I’ll let you know. BTW, which major did you apply for?
For future applicants, my S’s decision was on the portal last Weds, Feb 28 around 5:30 pm PST. No notice, though. Only knew to look because of the flurry of posts on CC. Also, snail mail letter arrived today, Monday, as did an email from UConn congratulating my S on his acceptance.
Just received my acceptance into Uconn Storrs campus as a mechanical engineering major. I received a 18,500 leadership scholarship. I am oos. The scholarship was included with the acceptance letter. I don’t think my stats were too impressive…gpa: 98.5…weighted, my school doesn’t tell us on a 4.0 scale…SAT: 1260…not too great, but I’ve taken 4 APs, and mostly honors, I’m in Spanish NHS, I’ve done a lot of volunteering, Im youth president at my church, im an officer in 2 out of the 5 clubs i am involved in. I’m an African American female, and I’ve been working 40 hours a week, (80 in the summer), since I was 15 years old…I don’t know if they consider work or not when making decisions, but I thought it was a big part of my application, my essay was also really personal and kind of sad, so that could have had an influence…idk if this helps anyone, but maybe it will
is there any possible option to change the major you were accepted into? The major they put me in was not my first choice
UConn OOS acceptance came today!! 20k STEM scholarship So excited!
SAT: 1530
GPA: 5.16/5, valedictorian
A guy at my school said he got 40k a year… is that even possible?
@polishbabe My D is in the same situation. She thought she applied to Chemistry with an interest in Chinese and they put her in the Chinese major. She is in the School of Arts and Sciences, which houses both majors but she wants to major in Chemistry. They also gave her a nice $18,500 academic excellence scholarship which she wouldn’t want to loose… She is OOS (MA) and is waiting to hear from other schools - but UConn is sure a nice option with the scholarship.
D received instate acceptance today- chemical engineering
Honors
7,500 merit
SAT (1510)
UWGPA 4.0. (#3 in class)
Pleased with offer but waiting to hear from several privates at the end of month. So far accepted Villanova Honors, Stony Brook- good merit, Clarkson- giant merit but way too cold! Haha- D applied because free application - we told her we’d buy designer outerwear but she’s still not interested.
As been mentioned above if D goes to an honors program not sure if she will continue past first year with the challenging major she’s chosen to pursue.
@lisag519 psychological sciences
Has anyone been able to access any FA award in the portal yet?
.
@newenglandjane i dont see anywhere in mail that we will hear about merit aid later this month. Pretty sure those that got it, got it in the mail that came today and saturday. I wish that were true though im upset i didnt get any merit but i plan to appeal.
@nyknicks1000 Yes, you are right. I was going by what my son described on the phone. When I got home, I saw the actual letter did not contain the language about mid-March: only the promotional material that came with it did. So I conclude there is no merit aid for him. We might try an appeal once my son decides UCONN is one of his top choices, which will wait until we get the rest of the decisions. I wish you the best of luck!
