UConn RD 2021 Decisions

Decided to start this thread since I didn’t see one yet. Does anyone know when we will hear?

Around March 1.

.

ALL- I went through this last year. So here’s the real deal: (1)You will likely hear on Saturday 2/25/17, as least year we heard on Saturday 2/27. (2). Grades and test scores are king. They get so many applications, and grades and test scores are a huge factor. (3) Don’t get fooled by seeing your name in the address book!! My son’s name was in there too, so we thought he was in, when in fact he wasn’t. (4) If you see your name in the address book AND there’s a message to pay housing fee, that’s a good sign. (5) If you get on the waitlist, you may not find out until after your graduate in June, and it could still be a no! (6) to get merit money as an out of state student, you basically need extremely high grades and test scores!

Fwiw, students applying to majors that fall under the Fine Arts Department, including DMD, will hear sooner. Those applicants are required to submit an extensive portfolio much sooner than the regular deadline (this is an additional component to regular application requirements only for these majors), so they will hear sometime just before the end of January. Unfortunately, everyone else has to wait longer to hear. Best of luck to all applicants.

My daughter said that information changed for her on their website a couple of days ago, to columns regarding dorm assignment and other information. But no acceptance yet. She’s wondering whether that means an acceptance is coming.

Becautious - how does UConn OOS merit compare to UMass Amherst? UMass seems to give merit money to pretty much everyone OOS - does Uconn not do the same thing? How high do your scores / grades have to be? We are finding that competition this year is so fierce that many universities are requiring Ivy-league type stats (UVA, UMass CHC for ex).

@parentologist Don’t try to read into things based on what you see. I bought in last year and mentally bounced between acceptance and rejection for my DD. Becautious is accurate in terms of when you’re likely to hear. My DD was accepted and enrolled. She loves it.

I have twin daughters. One found out via snail mail today that she was accepted. The other hasn’t heard. Neither portal online has changed.

The acceptance came in a 5x7 type envelope and really looked like a promotional mailing. Not at all what we were expecting.

@flute1298 the daughter that got in, what school/major did she apply too? Congrats btw.

So late February to early March is when you hear from U Conn about the decision? (RD) I didn’t do the optional self interview. And I haven’t sent my SAT scores, as they were optional. Fingers crossed.

Just received an email that they hadn’t received our FAFSA(it had been submitted, but I resent it just in case). Am I reading too much into it to think that’s good news?

@VirginiaDare I got an email about submitting FAFSA too. I don’t think it’s a big deal, I hoped it was an indication of admission, but I doubt it.

@VirginiaDare I also got a FAFSA email today, hopefully it means good things!

I got the FAFSA email too and resubmitted.

FAFSA email means nothing. 2 years ago everyone got that.

In my student center under the “finances” and “my account” column, it says “pay room reservation fee” and then under the contact information box it says “dorm address”. Is that what people are talking about when they say something about dorms is popping up in their account and that usually means good news?

Just got accepted!

Nothing changed on mine as of yet, aside from the whole dorm reservation thing but that was there for a while I think

Stats @Scholar526 ?

@Scholar526 when did you apply, how did you find out?
