Get my UConn decision early??

Hey guys, I sent in my college application to UConn very early, even way before the deadline for scholarship consideration, December 1. In my UConn portal, it says this:

“Your application was completed on October 27, 2017. It is important for you to check your application status frequently. Your admission decision will be posted here when it is available.”

Does that mean that UConn might have their decision before March 1 because I applied so early? Or do they wait for all applications before posting mine? How often should I be checking? I’ve been doing it about every other day because I just want to know if I got into college :))

No. I don’t think you will get a decisions earlier. Check to see if UCONN’s admissions department has any social media accounts. I’m sure they do. Most schools will announce decision time on there prior to releasing decisions. Good luck! @anxiouswreck

No.

The only students that get an “earlier” decision are those that apply to the School of Fine Arts because there is a portfolio submission involved with an earlier deadline. My d found out near the end of January.

@maryversity I did not know that Fine Arts students found out earlier… that is good to know. Is your D in Fine Arts at UCONN? Does she like it? Are you OOS? We are in state and my S applied before the Dec 1 deadline for scholarship priority. Any info you can share is much appreciated.

Yes, she is DMD, and we are OOS. She has learned a LOT of great skills in the program. What is your son’s intended major?

@maryversity He applied for Fine Arts because he has an interest in graphic design. We are in state and at one point he had considered DMD at the Stamford class but later decided he was not 100% committed to animation. Hopefully the Fine Arts program is worth it.

There is definitely more to DMD than just animation, and there is also some overlap of skills in DMD/Graphic Design. My d initially was looking to go into graphic design when she was applying to schools until she learned about the DMD program. She actually has taken some graphic design classes at UConn (there is some overlap of skills for motion graphics) which she really liked a lot. As an artist, she appreciated coming at motion graphics from an artist perspective, not just the technical aspect.

Maryversity my D applied for DMD class of 2022 but has not received a decision yet - how did your D learn she was accepted? E-mail? on portal? or in mail? Thank you! :slight_smile:

@maryversity ^^^^

If I recall correctly, it was the portal…

@maryversity thank you!!! :slight_smile:

Best of luck - I know the waiting is hard…

Does anybody notice anything different on their portal under financial aid and contact information? I feel like there are more available tabs there now (even though there is no information). Eg the financial aid info box now has links for paying the bill, etc, and the contact info box at the bottom of the page now includes “dorm address” and “campus email” – even though they both say “none” I don’t remember if those were always there?

@YoungOne4 we have that information you mentioned above as well, not sure if that is new or has always been there- - my D is taking a UCONN ECE class in high school - if you are as well, not sure if that is what the info is related to(??) We are also awaiting a decision for the DMD program class of 2022. :slight_smile:

My daughter applied fine arts with a portfolio and hasn’t gotten a response yet. She just checked her portal today. Have any fine arts applicants gotten a response yet THIS year? Also, do you get a response on your portfolio review at the same time you get a response from the university or are they separate? She’s already gotten accepted to several other programs and each school does it differently.

Hi @mkm1964 No, not taking any classes through UConn (yet!). For all I know, that info was always there, lol.

@JerseyMom2022 Are you in the Temple board too? I believe the Uconn notification date is 3/1 but last year Fine Arts students heard as early as mid February. I don’t know if they respond after portfolio review. Are you in state? DS good friend is a freshman in fine arts and liking it. We are in state and this is the most affordable option since our city has a full tuition scholarship. Of course that means many of our graduates go to Uconn which makes DS not like it so much.

@magnetnh yes. My daughter has been accepted into the Tyler School of art at Temple with a $9000 a year scholarship. We still haven’t heard back about the Portfolio scholarship so she might get more merit aide. She has also been accepted at Rutgers and University of Delaware. No word about financial aide from them yet though. They’re all good schools and it’s good to have choices. We are in NJ so in state for Rutgers.

@JerseyMom2022 Grear choices! I know the name had Jersey but did not want to assume you were not in state for UConn.
