UConn, Rock On!

For everyone who's wondering... regular decision letters have indeed been mailed out.
i've been accepted in-state to the honors program. Does anyone know much about the honors program? What are the perks?

much much better housing (the new housing is really ugly) but athletes and honors get the south campus dorms, which are really nice
and also I think you get smaller classes -- it's almost like being in honors classes at a school where everything's tracked, from what I hear you're kind of separated so it's almost like you're at a different place
Also about the regular decision letters...I get the feeling that they are informing the better-qualified applicants first...I have friends who were EA but not so well qualified who haven't heard yet, so they're probably making the easiest decidsions first

Unless something terrible happens, I'm pretty sure I'm getting in ... I'd just like my letter! Some of my better-qualified friends haven't heard yet, along with those who are borderline. It seems entirely random to me.

Yay, I got in to the Business school today

3.8GPA/1350 SAT
$37,200 scholarship

ok is that scholarship financial aid or something? thats a ****load of money lol

i got my acceptance letter today also for CLAS in Biological Sciences
1330/3.5, no rank, excellent ec's and recs
good essays

err, thats over 4 years

Sorry this doesn't have much to do with UCONN.....
Eireann- I was just at Yale's academic team competition. Our team competed against an EO Smith team- your teams are pretty awesome!

Ok, So, acceptance letters for people who applied in late january would be sent out around .....??? Any ideas?

tashi I was there!! What school are you from? I thought the competition level's getting pretty crazy, with people from LA there and everything but it was a lot of fun.

That's so cool! I was with Sacred Heart, the only all-girl school there. I think I competed against EO Smith A- the team with three guys. You're so right- the competion was so intense- we ended up losing really badly to this team from Louisiana. How did ur teams do?

Yeah we lost really badly to the Louisiana team too. We did pretty well overall I guess; we had 2 teams make the play-offs (out of 3) and 1 made the second round, which is really good for our school. Our team went 2-4 so it wasn't that great but we had fun.

Good job- that's definitely a pretty good record considering the level of competition. We had one team. It was only our second time attending, so we were happy to have made it to the playoffs. That Louisiana team was so good- they knew the most obscure facts and they were really quick with the buzzers. But I guess if you come all of the way from Louisiana or CA or even MD, you must be really good. Some of the teams took everything sooo seriously and got really mad at each other if they interrrupted the question and gave the wrong answer. It was quite funny at times! We just came for the fun of it- it was definitely a great time!

is there any one that applied for early actiopn that is still waiting to hear from uconn?

My son is still waiting. Called UConn a couple of weeks ago and they confirmed his application was complete and he was considered EA. Notification mid-January through early March. How is that "early action"???? He applied to School of Engineering, and is hoping for honors program, if that matters.

I applied last week of January and they have already reviewed my app and are sending part of it back because I apparently forgot to sign the application. Hopefully I'll get a reply soon after I send it back... hopefully.

I'm getting very nervous and frustrated because I have still not heard from them and i did EA

I think if your app just went in late January you have to give it a few weeks even in rolling admissions scenario. I applied back in Nov. and heard in early January so you figure it out. Accepted at School of Engineering. In-state, 1400 SAT/good EC's/top 25% of very comp. Catholic HS. My first choice is Navy so in a sense this is my "safety" school. One kids safety is another kids dream so everybody hang in there and good luck!

Once again, my EA son is still waiting (as is his best friend), but another friend who applied in mid-January just got his acceptance! Not sure which school he applied to.

I finally heard back from uconn, and i got in!

congrats!!!!
