UConn Transfer 2011 Admissions Concern

In February, I put in an application for transfer admissions at the University of Connecticut. During high school, I did well with a solid GPA. I took AP Classes, Honors classes and scored above average on my SAT score.

Currently, I attend a small public school in Southern Connecticut. Last semester I got a 4.0 and the admissions staff told me they were withholding their final decision until they saw my midterm grades, I got solid A's and sent the report in. What do you think my chances are of getting accepted into the Storrs campus? I applied as a Political Science major, and my application is completed.

The main thing I'm concerned about is time, and space. I don't think my application was sent in to late, I think I was right on time--I know people who applied after me and already got accepted. But now, I have this feeling that there's a space issue, that they've received such a high volume of applications that the best thing they can do for me is branch me, despite my grades/GPA currently. I'm also nervous because so many people have heard before me, and applied after I had. Should I be concerned?

Thanks!

I don’t know if this offers you any comfort, but our family is in the same boat. My D applied back in October, was ask to submit midyear grades and never heard back. I followed up with each step, so I am certain they received all info in a timely manner. It wasn’t until this past Friday that they updated her page that the application was complete. No clue if that’s when they took another look of if that is when they got around to changing the status.

Good news, she was accepted to 3 other schools. Bad news, UConn has been her first choice since last September when we visited the campus. We applied EA because we knew if she got it she was going, so the wait has been really hard, but what can we do?

The only difference is that I’m applying for Transfer. (Transfer is considered to be easier at the University of Connecticut.) It’s really nerve wracking, I’m not sure if I call again tomorrow if I don’t hear back, because I have been calling. Last week I had to call them and let them know that I did send my mid-term grade report. I was put on hold for roughly five minutes or more, the admissions staff returned and she said to me, “They are putting your grades in as we speak.”

Given that, my status changed, the application was complete. Friday, there was still nothing but I was kind of expecting that. Maybe your daughter and I will both be lucky tomorrow, in the same boat, and get accepted! I hope I hear tomorrow, but that’s my nerves talking. Or definitely by this week that I will hear.

I was accepted this morning. I used my studentadmin account, where they posted the decision they have made. Good Luck!!

Yah! Great news for you. We were waitlisted, so unfortunately for us no final decision. Best of luck to you and congratulations!

Thanks! Best of luck to you as well, the waiting list I’m sure is a pain

UConn is crazy with their admissions. I know students who in the National Honor Society and top 20 in their class and are getting wait listed or branched to the satellite campuses.

Well she got offers from UDel, NCState and Penn State so not all is lost. UConn was her first choice, but we’re realistic getting off the waitlist may be tough.

She got off the waitlist. Go figure!?

Well, is UConn still her first choice? :)

Can’t make a definitive decision before the grant package arrives.
