My son is still in limbo regarding his decision. Uconn and Udel are comparable in price for him with scholarships. Similar size and school spirit. He is seriously thinking about dentistry. Both have engineering, but he may change his major to bio. In his mind Uconn is a "better" school, but I thought he liked Udel more when we first visited, with the little college town feel. We are supposed to go back to Delaware this weekend, but I think he is sick of looking. I am not getting much feedback from him. Any thoughts?

Dentistry is all about GPA and DAT scores; doesn’t really matter; it’s wherever he wants to be…bio is bio, both are very good schools…

If finances were involved, that could tip the boat, but otherwise, honestly, doesn’t matter…

At some point he has to “get off the boat” of USS Indecision; if he doesn’t want to visit again, so be it…

There have been a couple of other threads on this choice, but I’ll reiterate what I said in those: UConn is in the middle of nowhere, while UD has the great college town and easy access to Philadelphia and beyond. What sort of atmosphere is your S looking for? And how easy will it be for him to get home from each place? When mine was deciding, he thought the UD students seemed happier and more upbeat than those at UConn, but of course that’s a big generalization. With a choice like this it comes down to the feel of each school, and where your S can best picture himself for the next four years.

My son was also in limbo between Delaware and Penn State. We visited each school for one last look. He loved the campus of Delaware but decided that Penn State was the better fit for him. Good Luck with the decision - it was stressful for all of us but everyone is happy with his decision.

Best of Luck for all at UDel.

This one is essentially a pick em.

We visited both and thought UConn buildings so close together and campus so small as to be claustrophobic even though its campus is twice the size of UDel. Forget there being no town, there’s hardly any place to eat off campus.

I don’t think the “rankings” are significantly better for UConn, although it does have basketball which makes it a lot more well known. The female to male ration of 50/50 is at UConn is a little less favorable to a boy than UDel’s 57/42.

Too bad you couldn’t attend last weekends Delaware Decision Day, it was pretty impressive.

There’s another Decision Day this Saturday.

What Booklady said (although you will likely get different opinions on the UConn thread).

60-40 Girls-Boys. :)

HAHA! The only thing D doesn’t like about UD!

I had to make this exact same choice between uconn for UD for engineering. I chose UD for all of the reasons said above and in other threads.

Thanks all. I hope he makes the right choice for him.
