So I was accepted to all of these schools, recieving 2k from UMD( and being placed in honors ), 9k from UDEL, and 4k from TCNJ, but Im pretty torn on where to go.
Its mainly between UDEL and UMD I think because I preferred a big school with sports to cheer for, more things to do, bigger greek life, and all that

I am from NJ
I will be majoring in Biology, and unsure what, but I want to minor also.

UMD has better sports teams (especially men’s basketball) but it’s a MUCH larger school. I think that UD is a good size, plenty big but not huge. My son was accepted to both last year but UMD gave him no money while UD gave him a small amount. You should go down for decision days. We went last year expecting to pick UMD and came away with the decision that UD was the place for my son, although that also had something to do with the major he wanted not being available at UMD.

Presumably TCNJ is going to be much cheaper for you, that of course is also a factor.

My D loved these two schools also. I think she would have definitely gone to UMD if she got in, but they deferred her to Spring. She is in at UDel for Fall and will be going there. And is absolutely thrilled.

The other benefit that misterbill didn’t mention is UMD’s proximity to Wash DC. Another plus.

I agree with misterbill. Go to the accepted students day at each and see what your gut tells you. Also, since you have a specific academic focus, sit in on a class at each school.

Congratulations and good luck! That is a tough choice to make, but either way, they are two great choices.

friends kid at UM honors…be careful…school full of red tape! As an honors student did not get roommate of choice and is a force triple with roommates she has nothing in common with who go home every weekend (thankfully). Area around UM very sketchy! Sports teams yes…could not get a basketball ticket to most games! End up watching on TV. Most going out takes place traveling to DC and going to bars which is expensive.

Check it out VERY throughly…if you can do an overnight that would be even better!

My brother went to TCNJ and detested it. Ended up transferring to UMBC here in Maryland. Of course, that’s a personality thing, not necessarily a school thing, but TCNJ was kind of expensive.

My D got into UD honors with merit, but not UMCP honors (did get fall admit though) She went to both UMCP and UD accepted student days, and decided UD was for her. UMCP would have been less expensive, but she (and we) thought she had a higher propensity for success at UD. I am not sure if honors at UMCP would have altered the decision.

She did not like her overnight at UMCP on April 16-17, and fell in love with UD in two hours on April 18. She visits UMCP periodically and is still convinced her decision was right for her.

Even though both schools are ‘large’, UD is less ‘vast’, and is smaller. She is extremely happy at UD.

Look at your intended major, go to accepted student days, balance your finances, do an overnighter if you can, and make your decision. Good luck, keep us posted.
