UCR Dismissal and Chance to Appeal

Hello Everyone,

As you can guess from the title, I’ve been recently dismissed from UCR because of a continuous poor academic performance. I’m making this post to see if anyone has also faced this circumstance and how you managed to appeal it. In regards to my situation as to why I performed so badly these past quarters, I’ve been mainly facing depression about my family issues and trying to work to accommodate these issues, but at one point, it’s became overloading for me. I’m sure it’s not an uncommon reason as many students face similar situations, but I just want to know what are my chances to successively appeal. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks again.

I cannot answer your question but will offer some advice for you to consider.

Sometimes it is just better to move on. Of course, it is wise to seek counseling regarding depression. Moving on may be in the form of working for a year or two before returning to a different school, or by enrolling in community college while working on your personal issues.

I appreciate the advice and have considered taking a break from school to sort things out. For the moment, though, I want to see what are my all my options and chances before making my final decision. Thank you again for your comment.
