Alright, so kind of a long discussion here but, here we go. So I just got an email from UCR telling me that I haven’t fulfilled the Entry-level Writing Requirement and they said I should take the AWPE. Do I have to take the AWPE? Because what I understood was that I could waive it by satisfying the Entry-Level Writing Requirement. I got a 3 on the AP English exam and have an A- on a English college course (ENGLISH 1) that I took at a local community college. I self-reported the AP score and sent my college transcript to UCR, but they still say I haven’t satisfied the requirement. What should I do?
Did you also have your AP scores to UCR? Until they process both, you will still have the requirement on your to do list? Wait it out until orientation.
Yes, I had them sent to UCR when I took the AP exams. However, I took AP English my junior year (last year) and did not have them sent to UCR at the time, since I didn’t know where I wanted to go to college. Do you know if Collegeboard sends ALL scores to the college you bubbled in, even the ones from previous years?
Yes, they send all scores. Give them time to process your transcripts and AP scores. When will you be attending orientation? Hopefully everything will be cleared by then.
Oh thanks for telling me! My orientation is pretty late, August 3-4
You don’t have to take the AWPE. The AP credit will exempt you from taking English 1A. UCR made a mistake by sending out that email to everybody, supposedly.
Really? So everyone got it? Thanks for the info!
