UCR engineers

hey so UCR offers a 5 year Biological Engineering Bachelor plus Master program. I'm a incoming freshman wondering if it would behoove me to partake in this program or to get a B.S. in a more broad and general engineering discipline like Mechanical first. My ultimate goal is to get a M.S. in bioE or biomedE. Does anyone have any advise on whether its better to just specialize early and go for the 5 year plan or to get a broader understanding of engineering then specialize later and maybe go to a better graduate school like LA. Any input welcome.

If your going to try and do the Master’s program then you have to make sure to get good grades all four years because they have a required GPA and also for ChemE you cannot have a C or lower in any of your major classes such as Physical and Organic Chemistry
