UCR Football team>>

why dont we have a football team @ UCR

Funny that you ask that. There was a pretty intereststing conversation which is listed under UCR’s facebook’s status. [University of California, Riverside | Facebook](<a href=“UC Riverside | Riverside CA”>UC Riverside | Riverside CA)

Within the conversation, one of our students thew in a link to our athletic directors take on why we do not have a football team. If you are unable to see the status convo, here is the link: [UC Riverside Athletics Presents “Ask Stan Morrison”](http://www.athletics.ucr.edu/askstan/askstan5502.html)

Here are some quotes from the convo by some of our alums:
“A football team would not in any way bring me “the joy of winning”, I believe that is reserved for those playing the game. Also, the pride I have in UCR is not in any way related to athletic victories. I believe many would agree.”
“…The whole UC system is more focused on amazing research and creating leaders than athletics except that rogue UCLA. ;)”

^ one min too late haha.

GO HIGHLANDERS! etc etc lol

When was that reply written? Idaho and Utah State have been out of the Big west for years  Also, the possible football conferences he listed were all IA conferences. If a Big West team got a football team, they would mostly likely join the IAA Great West Conference where they would have California away games at Davis and SLO. However, the other things he mentioned were reasons why most Big West teams dropped football.

I really wanted to go to a school with a football team lol. I really love watching football haha

yeah a football team completes a college

would you rather have a med school or a football team?

aha, a football team to be honest…

I rather take the football team…

To have a football team @ a university, you have to have 20,000 student (ucr had 18000 last fall) and it costs around $30 million to build a field. PLUS, ucr has sports guidelines which state that if a boys football team is made, a girls one must also be available. They said they tried to make a football team in the 70’s but no one really showed interest. I heard all of this today at a lecture from a counselor

^ yup yup yup… its not easy as “omg we should so totally have lik a football team, yeah!!”
in the long run after 4 years when you have a bachelors degree, the whole football campus pride thing is going to look like something very insignificant and not necessary…

Enjoy your edumacation! =D

yeah but it be fun too run in to the field in the rose bowl after beating
USC

D: I want to do that…

dude… we can only dream… that would be soooo bad ass… mofos caused me to sit in traffic so many times!! i lived in the middle of USC and UCLA… whenever youd get my buddies in one room you’d have blue teddy bears and cardinal ripped condom packages flying left and right as they clashed!!!

their is alway b ball. but that will be UCLA since SC sucks at b ball

Bball is waaaay different than football games though.

yeah it kinda sucks. Okay how about this We trade our med school to fresno state if they give us their football team

hey… I’m planning to go into med >_>

damn well would u prefer of being the star qb for the Pats.

yea star QB and be the first pick of the draft
80million dolla deal right there
