UCR to UCSD in one year possible?

Hi,

I'm an incoming freshman going to UCR business Econ this fall. I would love to transfer to UCSD next year as they have a great economics program. I have 22 credits from ap classes and I am taking a 15 credit schedule for this quarter. Will I have a chance to transfer to UCSD in one year??

I read everywhere that UCSD UCLA or Berkeley don't accept sophomore transfers. However, I heard that there also were exceptions. What can I do to transfer?

I appreciate your time for reading this please advise me in what I can do to expedite my process.

Thank you for all the help!!!

The exceptions are the campuses listed in <a href=“University of California Counselors”>University of California Counselors;

However none of the ones you want allow it.

Not sure if those 22 credits are quarter or semester credits. Had they been semester units and if you loaded up over this summer, you might have earned enough units to hit the 60 semester-unit goal by spring, which is what UCSD requires to be eligible. However at this point it doesn’t seem possible. Note, too, that priority for admission goes to CC xfers so there is a chance you might not get in after 2 years at UCR.

I have 22 quarter units of ap credit. My fall quarter I will have a 15 units schedule. By the end of my fist year I will have 75 quarter units. The reason I asked this transfer question is because I heard some people did transfer in one year with less than the 90 units requirement. I wanted to know if anyone else has done this that can give me advice.

Bumpppppppp

You have a better chance going to your local cc then transferring to UCSD.

Cc is not an option for me since I already am enrolled in UCR now.

Wait the two years and try to transfer to UCB/UCLA. It seems like a long time to wait, but keep yourself busy with extracurriculars and make sure to maintain a high gpa-and have fun!-and the time will go by quickly.

What you heard about would most likely be considered Special Action Admits, and if you want to be considered for that you must complete exceptional progress and be unique, I’m not sure of the exact criteria but I am sure that you must stand out because I think only 77 were admitted via special action between UCSD, UCB and UCLA last year.

Thanks Matt4200. Do you know if we could transfer even though we have less than the 90 unit quarter requirement? I’ll have about 75 by the end of the spring quarter.
