Does anyone know which UC’s are geared towards preparing an undergrad for the health sciences, such as pharmacy or optometry? Thanks.

UCSD and I think Irvine too.

UCD they have a medical school there.

All UC's can prepare an undergrad for health careers, not just those with medical schools. It all depends on the classes that the undergrad takes.

What about UCSC? Is that any good?

Yes, it's amazing, but at the moment it has no undergraduates. :)

Go for professional or graduate school, but you just won't get in as an undergrad.

I don't think you understood my question: Is UCSC a good undergrad institution to go to if I want to go to a health-related graduate school (such as med school, opt school, pharm school, etc...)?

dude any of the uc's can prepare you for medical school admissions. it looks really good on your resume to have an internship and to do research with a school that has a medical school, and they are easier to get at those schools. i would only consider uc's with medical schools and a strong internship program. (ucd has one of the best internship programs in the country) post this question over in the medical school forum, and you will get answers that agree with mine due.

From what I see on mdapplicants.com, it seems that UCD and UCI's medical schools are the only UC's that don't give preferences to their own undergrads.

Whoops, sorry. I thought you meant UCSF. My mistake. :)

UCSC is fine.

Well, if I may get specific, I am not looking for medical school (althought I am still debating it); right now, I am leaning towards optometry; So, it won't matter to me if the UC doesn't have a medical school. I just want to know if the opportunity for research, internships, etc... is there.
