Thanks! I’ve noticed you’ve posted lots of helpful info about the UCs. D is really eager to attend one and we appreciate your info! Fingers crossed!
@Gumbymom What scholars group are the underrepresented students? I went online and couldn’t find any details. Thanks for any insight.
@MomLA2018 UCSD sends out invites to a VIP Tour to top students, but if you’re from Louisiana I doubt you’d get one. The tour invites do not indicate Regents. Last year the tours occurred around the end of February/early March.
@camcam2022: I do not want to derail this thread with a discussion on UCSD, but Underepresented could mean many things since UC’s do not use “race” in their admission decisions, so low income/first generation/severe hardships/disabilties would be the type of students they are targeting.
@MomLA2018 what do you mean Im in? Could you clarify??
@PawanGhimire: You have been accepted and will be notified of your acceptance at the Chancellor’s reception.
@Gumbymom I meant UCSB
Yeah I got the chancellor’s invite and the big regents envelope as well yesterday - similar stats
@Gumbymom Are you serious? But I was told it does not guarantee admission
@PawanGhimire It says on official UCSB invite page that it is not a guaranteed acceptance, but I’ve never heard of an instate student being invited and then not being accepted. I have heard you may still not get first choice major. I have also heard of OOS students invited but then not being admitted
I got my Chancellor’s invitation yesterday, and my Regents offer an hour ago! I live in SoCal. I believe Chancellor’s invite means you’ve been offered preliminary admission.
DD received UCSB Regents Scholarship in the mail today. She had received Chancellor’s reception invite Thu 2/15/2018 in the mail. We are SoCal residents.
My son received yesterday the Chancellor’s invitation, and today he received the Regents
@bsmdint Very nice opportunity. Go to UC’s now & save money for med school later!
@CopperlineX2 Thanks for the suggestion
@keeks101 may i please ask your stats?
Got Chancellor’s invite and Regents Scholarship in the mail yesterday! I live in Northern Cali. Here are my stats:
SAT: 2210 (700 M, 710 R, 800 W), I took the old SAT
SAT IIs: German (790), Lit (770), US History (760), World History (710)
GPA: 3.95 UW, 4.5 10-12 W, although I believe my UC GPA is lower because a lot of our honors classes aren’t counted as weighted for the UCs
AP Scores: German (5), Language & Composition (5), US History (5), Environmental Science (4), European History (4)
Extracurriculars: Leadership position in multiple clubs, editor position in journalism, journalism internship, student advisory board for my congresswoman, journalism summer program, yale young global scholars, martial arts, service trip, peer tutor, paid jobs as tutor & babysitter.
I have some small awards but nothing really significant or on the national level. I applied for the Global Studies major and the only other colleges I’ve heard back from are Brown (ED) and Northeastern (EA). I got deferred from both.
Good luck to everyone! I’m sure more letters are still arriving!
Received the invite yesterday. Does this guarantee my admission?
@xafl134 officially UCSB would say no, but essentially it is a guaranteed admit for in state
Honestly speaking, UCSB regents pool is less competitive as Berkeley. Some top kids might even didn’t apply. The kids i heard received the UCSB regents are those who study/work hard kids, but not those top on the cream.
