So I have a 2.83 GPA from my CC's an AA Degree in transfer studies. majoring in philosophy, what are my chances? I spoke with my counselor today and she was saying that all the TAG students are admitted first, then whatever room is left is what is made for those under a 3.0, but im hoping the yield rate will be on my side? any comments?

I’d say you have a solid shot. It’s a tough call. I mean 2.83 is pretty low coming from SDSU to UCSB. You have an ok shot, esp since you’re applying to philosophy, but don’t get your hopes up too much.

With a 2.83 you stand a chance. Last year the admit rate to ucsb for transfers from any college or university was 53.7 %. Also, admission into philosophy was 74.6 %. With that being said, You have a decent chance but keep your fingers crossed.

sidenote, those numbers are from uc stat finder.
