Saaaaame. My major is psychology.
is there a facebook group?
Does anyone know if UCSB has a good history program?
Just got my financial aid award. Does anyone know what “Other Education Costs” include? That is about $500 per month in EXTRA mystery charges! Thanks!
Insurance, phone, personal expenses. @totallybeachy
So anyone coming to spring insight?
@IneffableMind I will definitely be there!
@IneffableMind we will! Coming in Friday, staying till Sunday
Cool I’ll be going too
@nadinev those are great stats. even though engineering majors basically needs a miracle to get into a good UC, I would’ve expected one of them to let her in. I applied for a non-impacted major and I got rejected from UCLA (not a shocker) but waitlisted at UCSD UCSB and UCI. Irvine was my safety so I’m kinda shocked lol. I thought one of them would let me in haha. I just wish CA wouldn’t screw over their own students, but I don’t expect them to change anything:/
Got accepted to both UCSD and UCSB linguistics! Which school has a better linguistics program?
How is the psychology program at UCSB? Awesome, pretty good/decent, alright, average, ehh, below average??
I am posting this, because my D has pretty average stats, And got in
Just thought some of you future applicants might appreciated
UC GPA 3.4
Her sophomore year she had 2c’s&2d’s, Not good but the D’s were in precalculus honors and when she repeated it Junior year she received A’s
SAT 1720 590 M 590 CR 530 W
EC ASB cheerleader captain
Pretty strong essays, we went through a lot of the family her sophomore year, and that kind of explained her grades that year
She had a strong upward trend her junior year
She had already committed to UCR, but it was nice to get in here as well.
From what I have read UCSB only uses scores for 50% of the admission process, I think my daughters case is kind of truth of that, so anything can happen!
To the person that said that less qualified OOS student were taking away CA resident spots, guess you were right
@khanam just to follow up on this. he chose ccs physics at ucsb, and will be heading there in the fall. he’s talked with some people comparing it to berkeley (he got waitlisted there, still waiting to hear) and he likes what he’s heard about ccs physics. so it’s on!
congratulations! i know CCS Physics is exceptionally good especially if he plans to pursue a graduate degree. he will not be second guessing himself. my daughter was also accepted to CCS Bio and she loved the entire program but then she got accepted to Princeton. If I had clones of my daughter, it would be great to see her at each of the great colleges hahaha!
@khanam well done to your daughter, too. my son wants to be an entrepreneur, and plans to go and get a further degree (not sure how far) in EE as well as an MBA. he’s also going to try and get the certificate in technology management at ucsb while he’s there, if he can.
