****UCSB Admissions 2021****

D was accepted
Instate
ACT: 32
GPA 3.86 uw.4.4 w
Good ECs

Reading the admitted and rejected posts…wow, the UCs are so tough and only getting tougher. UCSB is a really great school and my wife and I (both UCSB grads) think very highly of it and we are excited to have this an option. Other schools applied to include:

UCLA - waitlist (#1 choice for D… bummer and realize waitlist is slim pickens)
UCB - pending
UCSB - admitted
UCSD - admitted
UCSC - admitted
UCD - admitted
USC - pending
Pepperdine - admitted
Cal Lutheran - admitted
SDSU - admitted (D toured last weekend and loved honors dorms/school moved up)
Cal Poly - admitted
U of Hawaii - admitted

The upcoming tours (round 2) of Cal Poly and UCSB may help to cement a decision

@NydiaR @MisterStudentt u r right…however, UCSB has alot of programs that are ranked lower than the programs offered at Davis…So it really depends…also…graduates from davis earn a bit higer than Santa Brabarra…I just checked lol…

Accepted
Instate
3.86 W GPA
34 ACT
11 APs
Pre-Biology Major
Decent ECs and sports
Waitlisted at UC Davis and UC San Diego

@CABoyMom they rejected him becoz they know he will be admitted to a better school and may waste UCSB spot for an aplicant that has lower stats thaan him, and is more likely to attend UCSB…So dont be disappointed

@Sharob Do you mind comparing the Computer Science program of Davis vs UCSB for me?

Does UCSB have an honors program? If so, how do you check if you got in?

@MisterStudentt I agree that CS is better in UCSB…however, UCD has other programs that are better than programs offered at UCSB…for example…political science, veterinary, agriculture… basically it really depends on ur major…so yehh u r right!!!

@MisterStudentt ohhhhh…this year they had same ranking in Computer science…

@lanabanana99 Right under where it says your admitted major, if you’re in the honors college it should say “Honors Program: You are admitted”

Accepted.
GPA: 3.4 UW, 3.8 ish W.
SAT (new) : 1230
Major: Physics

Long list of EC’s, too lazy to list them all.

Surprised I got accepted. Junior year first semester, ended up with a C and a D. Brought them back up to A’s second semester, though. Wrote about this in one of my essays. Got a 4 and 5 respectively for the corresponding AP tests. (AP Chem & AP Calc AB)

@SCGoalie00 Thank you :slight_smile:

@lanabanana99 I don’t know if this affects you, but UCSB’s honors program is for majors in the College of Letters and Science only.

waitlisted
4.07UCGPA and 1920SAT…I’m really sad :frowning:
I have good EC’s and a really interesting life story (was hospitalized for a month) so I was really counting on SB! I’m planning on submitting my SIR to SLO and PRAYING I get off the waitlist but from the waitlist stats someone posted a few threads back… my chances don’t look too high :frowning:

@Ynotgo I just checked and I got in the honors college! Thank you for your response though

Accepted.

MAJOR: Computer Engineering
International Student from India
SAT - 1420
TOEFL - 111
SAT SUBJECTS - Math2: 800; Physics: 780; Chemistry: 760

I got waitlisted for pre-bio and but this is my #1 choice and i REALLY want to get in… I understand that this is an extremely difficult major to get accepted into…is there anything i can do to boost my chances? My GPA isn’t fantastic: 3.67 ACT: 29 THE WAITING PERIOD IS KILLING MEEE :frowning:

Accepted for pre-biology

SAT: 1380
GPA unweighted: 4.15
GPA weighted: 4.25
Subject tests: 800 french

Accepted: UC SB, UC Santa Cruz, Cal Poly SLO, University of Toronto, McGill
Waitlisted: UC San Diego, UC Davis
Rejected: UC LA, Washington University in St. Louis

Really happy!

would changing my major boost my chances? I don’t want to be a pre med like most of the bio majors who applied, I want to go into physical therapy which is more flexible w majors. I’m soo desperate

Hey @anxiousgalll don’t worry, being placed on the waiting list of a UC is more of a half yes than a half no. Changing your major may help MAYBE, but I wouldn’t suggest doing that since you got waitlisted. You’re qualified, but there isn’t enough room. Just hold on tight. Don’t worry, I know it’s hard to wait but at least you didn’t get rejected.

Does anyone know how the WL works? I know they say applicants aren’t ranked and that there’s no order but if that’s true then how do they take students off the WL?
