Sorry to post another one- but the post I have been referencing is extremely jumbled and difficult to make sense of...

FASFA was submitted March 3rd, 2009... was accepted to UCSB during the first wave on what? March 17th?

I am getting beyond anxious at this point. Can I get some clear answers as to when others received their Unofficial Award Letter?

I am a Honors transfer student with nooooo money who did not have a TAG. Any of these factors contribute more highly as to why I am waiting and waiting for my estimate?

Davis posted there's right away and gave me so much it's almost ridiculous- had a TAG there... does that matter? Would love to get out of Northern California but am afraid of being swallowed up by Isla Vistans.

So! This is a two parter question:
PLEASE REPORT EXACT DATE YOU GOT YR UCSB AWARD LETTER (Or if you're in my boat please holler some support!)
THEN REALLY. LET'S SETTLE IT! For someone in the Arts and Humanities department- where should I spend the next couple quarters?

I only applied to SB and Davis and wish I had chanced between tiers for some alternate options. Oh well, I'll go big for Grad school.

I received an email back from a financial aid coordinator and she expressed to me that they are “planning on getting ALL award letters up sometime this week”

hope this helps, i have been anxious for this as well

as a former UCSB student all i can say is this: if you’re wondering whether or not you want to goto UCSB, ask yourself the following question, “How much do you like to party?”

Really??? I mean, really? I hope this is myth. At 22 I have done more than my share of partying and really look down upon the whole scene these days. Will I have no friends? Will I feel like a Grandma? Are parties going to be going down like during class? Kegs in the bathrooms or quads? I mean, come on! It just cannot be true!

My advice is to try to find a nice spot either

a. in the city of Goleta
b. 5 blocks or greater from DP - in the Apt area.

I am not sure how on campus housing is. I lived in IV for almost two years- not going to school. It was enough for a lifetime. I am actually very proud of all those who manage to make it through the school while living on DP.

Despite that, there are surprisingly a great number of ways to make friends aside from partying. A lot of surfers down there. All sorts of community involvement project. Your biggest hindrance to successfully pursuing your goals without too much partying will be your roomies.

It can be done. And no reason to feel like not partying = no friend, although my grandma did once tell me “I lost all my friends when I quit doing drugs”

hahah. You’ll be fine, it’s a great school with a great location.

Yeah, I think living in Davis would be more detrimental to my personal health than living anywhere near the UCSB campus. I am strong, will survive.

What is DP, though? Hmmm. I have a little dog, too… so finding a spot will be extra FUN for me. A non-druggie with a dog? Bet I will end up living with a family or some old spinster.

Gosh, I would love to keep talking like this but feel it’s all in vain until that infamous SB award letter gets posted! Gah!

Thanks for the help and reassurance that I am not the only one waitin’.

I emailed them last week about it, they said they’ll release the information at the end of this week.

An excerpt from the email -
“…our office will put up Unofficial Award Letters for all admitted Transfer students toward the end of next week. This is when you can see what you qualify for through our school. You will be able to access this through the Admissions website under Admitted students > Transfers.”

I received this reply from them on Thursday the 16th, so “the end of next week” means the end of this week.

Oh, for sure! It’s already planned to go in the next couple weeks. I want to go down there with the Award Letter estimate known though, you know?

I am actually very proud of all those who manage to make it through the school while living on DP.

I think a nice way of looking at how people make it in the UC system is looking at graduation rates, persistence rates, and GPA. Here’s how UCSB fares compared to other UCs as far as four year graduation goes:

Just got my unofficial award summary today, about 14k in grants (UC grant + Pell).
Weird thing is, my award letter makes no mention of Cal Grants. Boo.

Also, I believe I qualify for the Blue and Gold plan (family has < 60k income). Does anyone know if the grants that are going out include the new plan?
