UCSB - Business Economics.

Does anyone know in particular much about this major? I've heard that the Big 4 recruit heavily from UCSB. How does this major compare to the Business Economics major offered at UCLA? Thanks.

UCLA has a better program hands down. It is also MUCH harder to get into . It's more of a finance major so if you want a job at a big 4 (way to bust your ass for 50k/yr) then I would also suggest an accounting minor.

At around when does one usually become a CPA? Is it true that being a CPA makes one worth much more?

Oh and with the Business Economics major at UCLA, can one go into Investment banking? Can one simply minor in Accounting and major in anything else and still become an accountant?

Thank you.

Different states have different requirements for being able to sit for the CPA. CPA's are more rare so yes your worth will be higher.

With biz/econ, yes, you can go into ibanking if you choose. An accounting minor should be able to pull you an accounting job at a big 4 since they are going to retrain anyhow.

It sounds like you are unsure what you want to do yet so I would suggest you take your time, take classes related to your potential majors, and pick wisely :)
