hmm, still, im skeptical that the id unique to ucsb actually means admission, dont u think its just the different id number that they give to each applicant besides the uc application id?
hope it means admission though bc i have one as well

being deferred and waitlisted is horrible..
hopefully u got in to other campuses!

Yeah, it could very well be, which is why I don't want to jump the gun yet.

i thought all ucsb applicants got that ID number...

i got the i.d #...

has anyone--1) been rejected with a perm i.d#?

or 2) been accepted with or without a perm i.d #?

or 3) does not have a perm i.d #?

Hm, perhaps another clue? This page says "This system is limited to currently enrolled UCSB students only.", and I was able to login using my PERM number and SS#.

i wasnt able to log on.

what did it say when you logged in? your name... anything?

It just gave me the page to look for off-campus housing rentals. I typed in my Perm# without the dash.

and the last 4 numbers of your social?

what are your stats?

Yep, that's right. I also noticed that's UCSB's UMail server asks for just your Perm# and social security ID to register.

EDIT: I'm doing the guaranteed transfer program, which is good since my stats aren't that good :)

Transfer GPA: 3.25
IGETC Completed
Most pre-req courses completed (Poli-Sci major and I have two lower division courses left)
A few ECs here and there but nothing spectacular.

(fresh applicant)

i tried the housing site and the umail site with my "perm" number and last 4 digits of my SSN...both didn't work

to rc251: did the umail thing work for you? maybe this means you're for sure in since you did the guaranteed transfer program

OK, I called UCSB yesterday and told them about my situation, she told me decisions weren't supposed to be up yet and that I should find out between the 15th and the end of the month. (She didn't even ask for my perm # or application #. She just wanted to know what it said.) A few hours later the whole system went down for maintenance. Now I'm getting a "Cancelled by Applicant" message under status, and instead of the letter of congratulations, it reads, "Your application has been canceled per your request." Ummmm....

grxkn: wait, regarding your original post, you said there was a "long letter of congratulations"...this letter said you were accepted? anyways, that situation sounds messed up, maybe another call would rectify it? because "cancelled by applicant" doesn't sound too nice....

p.s. haha with this post, it is my 300th so i guess i'm officially a member, lol

Can't do anything on the email, it says "no matching records". However, I can log into the rental page, and it gives me this message:

Welcome! This is the main student menu. From here you can enter listings and search through the UCSB Off-Campus Rental Listing Service listings system and submit your own listings.

Yeah, when I logged in yesterday (before I called), it had a letter of congratulations in place of the current "Your application has been canceled per your request" message. What does it say above "Below is the status of your test scores we have received to date" on your page?

grxkn: really, the congratulations thing said "congrats, you're accepted??"

anyways, mine doesn't say "Below is the status of your test scores we have received to date"

I printed out the page before I called and this is what it said:

"Congratulations! On behalf of the faculty and staff at the University of California, Santa Barbara, I am pleased to offer you admission to the major in the for the Fall 2005 quarter."

...some more congrats stuff

I'm guessing they wanted to include the major and the college but didn't, heh (in that bold section you highlighted). I'm guessing most likely they put up the results too early and then removed them.
