UCSB Dorms

Hi, I have a question about dorms. My 1st question is, when dorms like Anacapa and Santa Cruz says it is mostly triple room and some double room, is it possible for me to still live in a double room if there's a possibility that there is not enough space for people to have double room since majority of the rooms are triple room? My 2nd question is, do we have to pay for the housing when we submit everything or do we pay later around august or september? How much is the housing and everything? Thank you!

Well, the costs and deadlines are on their website, and the cost varies depending on what meal plan you get (also if you get a triple it is cheaper.) And you may well get a triple even if you don’t want one since I expect most don’t and yet most in the shorties are going to be triples. The best way to NOT get a triple would be to go to San Miguel (where the rooms will be doubles, but are a little smaller and most seem to like the shorties better) or go to Santa Catalina (FT) where I understand half are doubles and half triples - at least your chances will be better to not get a triple. But you will be off campus. On the other hand, a lot of people love FT above all others, so it is up to you what is better for you.
