I want time to pass by just to start hearing from all the UC’s :((
@bobaloverr totally know how you feel. I went through this last year, and it was extended by being waitlisted until July. Now here I am again.
Same. Applied last year and couldn’t go to the schools I was accepted to because of relocation issues. So here I am again as well. Waiting…
Hopefully the spring semester will seem to make time go by faster.
Major: Pre Econ/Acc
GPA: 3.32
TAG: No
IGETC: Will be completed in spring 2016
Pre-reqs: Completed
EC:Internship at a Law Office
Have been in Dean’s Honor list for the past year and a half if that makes any difference lol.
Overall, feeling unconfident due to the low GPA and reading other peoples EC, some of those people might as well just put down that they saved a kid from Africa or something.
Here’s to crossing my fingers.
lmao. “Saved a kid from Africa”
you have all your pre-reqs completed! your GPA is above the threshold, so you should be ok!
I hope so, the only thing that really scares me about SB is Econ 10A class every Econ transfer has to take. Its pretty risky assuming they still have the curve, I don’t want to switch to a sociology major lol
Nothing wrong with sociology
For me it is because I am dead set on Econ.
Econ is a social science right?
have you considered taking Econ10 at your local 4 year university instead of taking it at UCSB? (if you happen to live near one)
@BlackPlasma
@BlackPlasma I believe they got rid of the curve this year.
@UCMtoUCSBHopeful I can’t because it has to be at UCSB, they will not allow it to transfer from anywhere else, even other UC’s.
@chaseguy750 Are you sure? I really hope so, I have hear a lot of horror stories with that class. Heck I think I read somewhere on here that someone got a B- and they were banned from applying to the major ever again and had to drop UCSB and try to transfer to another one. Pretty intense stuff.
@BlackPlasma yeah they took it out for 10A and if you get between a B- and a C you can retake the final twice to get into the major.
@BlackPlasma I’m worried about not getting a B in 10A that’s my only hesitation about going to ucsb. I want to do accounting and ucsb would awesome to go but that’s a lot of pressure.
@chaseguy750 Yea man its totally understandable. Well, at least the curve is out of the way, the way it was set up was such B.S. for transfers, literally a swim or die type of pressure ha.
@BlackPlasma I can’t imagine it’s as horrible now without the curve. I’m sure the class is hard but it’s probably way easier to get a B.
You can just switch majors once you get there.
I’m a hopeful one year transfer. I passed 8 AP tests with mostly 5s, so I’ve got around 29 semester units under my belt already. Finished Math & English requirements in Fall, and a majority of my Pre-Reqs as well. Wish I could’ve used TAG, but that requires a minimum of 30 units in actual coursework, not AP tests. Oh well, at least I’ll have my 60 units by the end of this Semester.
Major: Political Science
UC-Transferable GPA: 3.6
Major GPA: 4.0
IGETC: Done after Spring Semester
Major Prep: 6/7 done after Spring Semester is over. One’s covered by an AP test, so that’s nice.
ECs: A bunch of clubs from High School related to my major.
President of the Debate Team.
I volunteer at local Debate leagues to judge.
PS: One of the better things I’ve written, so probably 7-8/10.
TAG: Not eligible for TAG since the 30 units I had were from AP tests, not actual classes.
Applied to: UC Berkeley, UC Irvine
