Hello everybody I need help with something I am having trouble with. I have been accepted by UC Santa Barbara and rejected by both UCI and UCSD.

UCI and UCSD were my two choices before UCSB. Now that I have been rejected to both I need to decide if I will go to UCSB or if I will stay around here and go to a CC or maybe a Cal state.

If I go to UCSB, I will dorm.

If I attend a CC, I will look to transfer in two years to UCSD or USC.

What would you believe to be the smarter choice? Going straight to a UC or transfering in two years to a different UC?

please help me and give your advice/suggestions! thank you!

Honestly, a community college is so much lower than even a calstate, much less a mid ranked UC. People will tell you that the coursework is the same, but honestly it's not.

I speak from personal experience. I have taken extension courses at a CC and a UC, and the experiences were incomparable.

Just go with SB. It's a fine school and comparable to or even better than UCI. Besides, CC to transfer isn't guaranteed, and you might be denied admission yet again.

CC is no where near the level of a UC. Go to UCSB. Even if you still want to transfer later to UCSD or USC, your chances will be much better than if you went to a community college. Don't cut off your nose to spite your face, UCSB is still a good school.

Depends partly on what you want to study and whether money is a big issue. Certainly, from a lifestyle fun perspective, going to UCSB is the more fun option.

This is not true.

According to the California Higher Education Master Plan, California Community College students have higher priority for transferring into UCs than CSU and other UC students. It's much more difficult to transfer from a CSU or UC to another UC.
