Hi there, I am really stressed out on which school i should attend. I recently tagged to ucsb as an economics&accounting major. However, the major is only an emphasis on accounting and my main interest is the accounting part in hopes of getting my cpa. From what i researched, if i go to ucsb most of the classes i will take are econ classes with a handful of accounting classes. Theres also that factor of me entering as a pre-major and having to get past the famous econ10a class with a C or higher in order to get into the major. I’ve read tons of posts where students generally said econ10a has a curve with makes it pretty difficult to pass and enter the major; with many students having to switch their majors to something else. So this worries me that I might not even get in the major if i go to ucsb. The main thing is that I want to focus on the accounting aspect of the major more and prepare for the cpa. I know ucsb offers tons of recruitment from the big 4 auditing companies and internships but i don’t really know.
With csueb its close by and i would major in business accounting or finance where it seems to have more priority towards accounting courses and preparing one for the cpa. I’ve asked csueb reps and they said the big 4 also recruit here, im just wondering if a degree from ucsb is really that much worth it? Its far from home and it more expensive, I know the opportunities are good there but the major worries me. Help?
