I'm a senior and trying to decide between the UCSB and U of Washington. If anyone has any advice for me that would be greatly appreciated.
I am a (northern) California resident and am planning on studying something science/math related though I am currently undecided. I am also thinking about doing the pre-law track. I like how U of Washington has a popular football/basketball team and I like the culture in Seattle more but I don't like that it is out of state meaning I would have to pay a lot more money for about the same academic quality. Also, I heard there is a huge Washington resident population there (as expected) but even more so than other public schools in other states. I'm worried that a lot of people might already have friends from high school and such.
About UCSB, I love the location but not the huge party atmosphere and SoCal culture. Don't get me wrong, I like to party, but I heard there are a lot of **-bags there and I don't want friends like that (I'm a guy and I don't consider myself a **).
If anyone (preferably current students at either school) has any advice/info for me please leave a comment. Please talk about anything, from social life to academic quality. Thank you!

The increase in tuition for UW would be quite substantial. UCSB also has a significantly stronger program in the sciences.

I dont think cultural fit alone is enough to justify going to UW.

There are much less d-bags than you might think there is, there are many people with likable personalities as it has quite a laid back atmosphere. For the deciding factor between those two, I would pick SB because of solely the weather and location (in-state tuition vs out of state). You WILL regret paying so much more after you graduate.
