UCSB orientation?

I noticed that the main part of this orientation was the registration for classes. What do i need to do before i go to orientation? I want to be informed of G.E, prequisites so i can apply fast and easy without the hassle of trying to rush along with other ucsb students? Any link for help?

You should post this in the particular college forum.

I thought this WAS the particular college forum?

OP, you can look this up in the general catalog. Here is a link:

<a href=“UC Santa Barbara General Catalog - Bachelor's Degree Requirements”>http://my.sa.ucsb.edu/catalog/2013-2014/UndergraduateEducation/BachelorsDegreeRequirements.aspx</a></p>

FWIW, they tell you everything you need to know at orientation.

As calla1 stated, the orientation advisors will tell you everything you need to know about registering for your classes. You have three separate advising sessions in which you’ll learn about graduation and major requirements, as well as which classes will fulfill those requirements. If you want to be prepared prior to orientation, I’m attaching some helpful links to check out.

<a href=“UC Santa Barbara General Catalog - Academic Department Directory”>http://my.sa.ucsb.edu/catalog/2013-2014/CollegesDepartments/AcademicDepartmentDirectory.aspx</a>
This page allows you to look at individual major requirements. Just click on the department of your major, undergraduate program, and the degree you are planning to obtain. For example, as a Biopsych major, you’d click on “Psychological & Brain Sciences.” Then, on the next pages, click “Undergraduate Programs,” and finally, click on “Bachelor of Science - Biopsychology.” The subsequent page will show you what classes are required to obtain a degree in your major. This is extremely helpful in trying to decide what classes to register for.

http://www.sa.ucsb.edu/orientation/Mission/index.aspx</a>
Scroll all the way to the bottom of the page, and you’ll see links to three different presentations. These are the exact presentations that are used during orientation. They may not make too sense to you right now, but the first one (AAI) gives a good overview of the different requirements for graduation. This is probably the most helpful one to look at prior to orientation. & don’t worry, your o-advisor will explain everything during your actual orientation.

There’s not too much you can do to prepare for orientation because they have everything planned out and easy to understand once you actually get there. If anything, be sure to bring a copy of any test scores (AP, IB), as well as a transcript of your grades. This will allow you and your advisor to determine what courses are transferable.

I hope you found this helpful, and let me know if you have any questions. I just finished my UCSB orientation yesterday, and it was an amazing experience. As long as you pay attention and don’t get too stressed out, you’ll get the classes you need (and hopefully want) for your first quarter. Good luck & have a great time! :)
