Okay guys so I just received a letter from the UCSB visitor center. It's an invite to the UC Santa Barbara Reception Honoring Top Applicants.
And it goes on to say that "we would like to recognize your achievements and introducing you to UCSB.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN!?!?!? IM FREAKING OUT DOES IT MEAN I GOT IN!?!?

Don’t take it as an acceptance yet. Because you’ll never know what can happen! But it sounds good! Can you post your stats and where you live? Like region? Haha I applied too :)

Congrats! margiem 315
You are accepted.l

@margiem315.
Was it a letter by e-mail or snail mail ?

My daughter went last year and yes, they told everyone that they were accepted. They really try and sell you on UCSB at the reception. You should go if you can, and congrats.
btw - my daughter did decide on UCSB and loves it.

Last year the first thing they said at the reception was that the student was accepted.

Thanks everyone!!! I’m so excited!!
Honestly my stats are far from amazing. I had 26 ACT and 3.34 unweighted Gpa and a few ECs. I’m really surprised I received it. I think it was my essays that really helped.

@DualDegreeDoc it was snail mail and came in a small white envolope.

Oh and before receiving the letter I also received an email telling me to meet my admissions counselor from ucsb.

@margiem315.
Thank you for the information. Congratulations to you!

Thanks you! Do you know more about it?

@margiem315.
I doubt if I know anymore than you know about the Reception Honoring Top Applicants. From reviewing prior threads from CC, it appears that everyone who had received the letter, were eventually admitted. Therefore, congratulation to you again.

My son received the “Meet Your UCSB Admissions Counselor” also. We’re now waiting to see if he will receive the letter for the reception.

@SexySmartie and @margiem315.
I assume that the letters will go out in wave to the students living near the reception locations.

The first two dates of the reception are Saturday, March 2 in Chicago, IL and Sunday, March 3 in Seattle, WA. Therefore, I assume that you both were in the first wave and you both live either in the Chicago area (Midwest) or Seattle area (Northwest).

If my assumption is correct, then the next wave of letters will go out to the California students, since the following weekend receptions are Saturday, March 9 in San Jose, CA and Sunday, March 10 in Los Angeles.

@DualDegreeDoc
I’m in the Los Angeles area and I got it in the mail today. They may be sending it out in batches but probably not according to region

@lavenderman.
Congratulations. Did you get the “Meet Your UCSB Admissions Counselor” email too?

yeah I got that as well

So if we got the email then there is a chance that we will get the invitation?

@lauren933.
I have absolutely no idea.

It seems that margiem315 had received her “Meet Your UCSB Admissions Counselor” email on February 10th and then the actual “Reception” letter in the mail on February 19th.

As for lavenderman, he resides in the same region of California as my son and received the “Reception” letter today (February 23rd). I would guess that he received his “Counselor” email sometime before that (probably early last week).

I am just trying to figure out how many days should we wait … from the day my son receive his “Counselor” email on Wednesday, February 20th … to see if he gets the “Reception” letter.

The March 10 reception in Los Angeles is coming up real soon (15 days away). Therefore, if he does not get anythng in the mail on Monday, February 25th, then I doubt if he will get one.

We’ll just have to wait until March 19th … just like the majority of applicants :)

My invite was dated 2/15 so it had been sent shortly after I received the email. Does anyone know if Ucla or ucsd goes through the same thing? Bc I haven’t heard anything from either one

@ jfarmarucla95 no I’m oos
