UCSB, UCLA, USC, UCB, UCI,UCD

this is for UCLA, and I’m in-state. How about the other UC’s?? @forcourtesy

imo you’re pretty strong matches for all the other UC’s. in my eyes, your application has two glaring weak spots.

First, you need more awards/distinguishments. Not sure if you’re just not writing them down here- but that’s important. The few kids I do know who got in on numbers alone were exceptional (4.7 gpa) and stuff. Your SAT score, however, is up there in the “exceptional” category, so don’t fret too much.

Second, consider the nature of the college. UCLA is the most applied to college in the nation and suffers a bit from a lack of proper funding. As a result, they are somewhat understaffed and do not have time to properly read essays. As an educational institution, they are obliged to tell you that they read your essays and consider you holistically- but statistically it has been proven they would need at least some number manipulation to do this. Point is- don’t hinge your bets on clearing up your suspension with your essays, but instead, take the hit, recognize that such a “cheap suspension” (I’ve known worse than intentional yogurt spills) will not really hurt you that much.

tldr; actively work toward bumping the numbers game in any way possible (at this point it’s more like number of awards and what not). Essays are important but a school like UCLA will probably not see it much. You made the right move starting the Anti-Bullying club, but you need more initiatives like this.

but for real. you’re set and I highly doubt you’re in any position to fail, especially in cali.

also are you a junior or senior?

Senior @forcourtesy And I have awards and stuff I didn’t list. YOu are focusing on UCLA which(thanks it is my favorite UC) but are my chances solid for the other UC’s

yeah for sure! i’d say ~68% chance at UCSB and about 75-80% chance at UCD an UCI

@persia5 I don’t think I can asses because over the 1-2 years none of my friends or people that got into any UC vfrom my school were ever suspended. So I can’t accurately asses how much the suspension matters. But I have heard of others that have been suspended and gotten into a UC. However kids from my school that had high Stats and were suspended didn’t get into UC’s. But all of these kids were suspended for cheating which is a much bigger issue

Yea I agree. I really appreciate it though. Are there any schools you think I will get into no question?(good school/reasonable) @BucketsUCSC
