I can't decide which one to go to. What I want is a job after graduating that pays wells (private, not a state job).

UCSB Business Economics w/ emphasis in Accounting:
Pros- Strong accounting program, more prestige than my other choices.
Cons- Not a beach/surfer kind of person (prefer city/urban), out in the mdidle of no where, not as ethnically diverse (at least on the day I visited, I'm asian).

UCR Business Administration:
Pros- Full Business program with more concentrations, near LA
Cons- Bad reputation, bad & ghetto environment with nothing to do? (I've been getting mixed opinions on this)

UCD Managerial Economics:
Pros- Close to home (I live in Sacramento), more prestige than UCR
Cons- Cowtown, Not a true business program, focuses more on agricultural economics I believe... (i'm worried about getting a job with an econ degree). I have a friend that graduated from Davis with an EE degree and it took him almost a year before he could find a low paying temp job as a technician -_-. Maybe he wasn't searching hard enough or maybe the school's reputation isn't all that great? But then again I have an Uncle that graduated from UCD in Econ and now he's like a manager at PwC. Another Uncle of mine graduated from UCD, now he's self employed and does consulting for the state. I guess what matters is the effort I put into my education rather than the prestige that a campus holds?

Since I'm going in as a junior, I can't afford to pick the wrong campus, cause I doubt ANY colleges/universities accept senior transfers (if they do let me know). If anyone has experience with any of these UC's please give me your honest opinion. I only went on a brief campus tour of each campus, so I don't know what the people are like, and the day to day environment.

i would say you should throw our UCR.. and decide between UCSB and UCD.

I dont know that much about either campus so this is just my opinion.

In terms of rankings, UCSB does outrank UCD ... so that would play a factor in my decision, it might not for you.

UCD does havea good econ department from what i heard.

UCSB is a party school, are you a party person? granted you do not need to party if you dont wan to, but its reputation will affect the enviroment.

Do you want to stay at home? Since your in Sacramento you would save a lot of money going to UCD i assume by living at home?
is being at home a contributing factor for you?

If you dont want to stay at home definatley go to UCSB.
Will you get into debt by going? if its going to be a lot of debt then pick UCD...

Really either one will give you the same job outlook if you do well in school. YOur education will be waht you choose to put into it.. so keep that in mind.

Now for me personally i would pick UCSB and i also do not like the whole party surfer enviroment. (i am actually the same major as you at UCSB, but my school options are a little diffrent)

I know this doesnt help much but i hope it gives you things to think about .

I can still send in a late application to Sacramento State University, but I'd rather not be around 2.0 gpa students :). I have a friend going to UCR, so I might be able to share an apartment with him. Maybe that's why I was leaning towards that school over UCSB at first...Anyways when I went on the campus tour, the tour guide said UCSB being a party school is largely a rumor and mostly in areas with apartment housing, and that if you want to do well, you won't have time to party. Maybe the tour guide was just trying to convince the parents to send their children there. My cousin went to UCSB for a year and hated it and was totally bored, so she transferred to UCB in her soph or junior year as an Art History major. Too bad you don't hear about senior transfers to colleges -_-. I should of applied to more campuses (private, out of state).

Trust me..UCD beats Sac State..

Do you go to UCD or Sac State :)?
