UCSB vs. UCSD vs. UCI

SO my problem is...

I got accepted for Winter Admission into UCSD (Muir), I applied as a chemical engineering major but when I go to submit my SIR it says "undeclared" next to major.

I also got in to UCSB and UCI but for fall admission and got into the chemical engineering major. I understand that these two schools are a little less prestigious than UCSD and its really a tough choice deciding which school to go to.

I did call UCSD and made an inquiry as to why it said undeclared and they told me to send them an email, which I did. Im pretty sure that I did get in as a chemical engineering major since it says on their engineering schools website that Bioengineering, Computer Engineering, and Computer Science were the only impacted majors for Freshman. They have yet to respond. With the deadline for SIR's coming up fast I am becoming very anxious and I don't know what to do.

I was also wondering how hard would it be for me to get to a engineering major later on if in fact they didn't make an error and I actually have my major as undeclared.

TY for any help

i dunno if im allowed to do this but bump anyways

I wouldn't worry about it too much. My son entered UCLA as undeclared, started taking the prerequisite classes for engineering, and applied to the major at the end of his freshman year. If you have a decent gpa in the prerequisites, UCSD will probably let you do the same thing.

Go to UCSB or UCI you want a normal experience not some winter admit experience. You will make all your friends fall quarter and start with everyone else instead of competing with a bunch of kids who have a quarter on you. Personally, I would choose UCSB, as an engineering major you will appreciate the locale of Santa Barbara when you need to relax. It is a great place to live for 4 years.
