So quite a few people posted on the schools app thing that they got removed from waitlists at other schools like Berkeley so they are going to not go to UCSB so that makes more space hopefully!
I tweeted UCSB Admissions and they said that decisions will be released starting mid May.
don’t you guys think its a bad sign for the decisions to come out this late. They should have had an estimate after May 1st!!!
It just means we all got rejected. Last year, last batch of waitlist admits for UCSB was 5/9.
@metalmonk28 actually they’re waiting till Mid may so kids can uncommit and go to UCLA/berkeley if they get in. If there was no space, we would’ve heard back
If I get in off the waitlist, I’ll for sure let the school know that I’m not going to commit because you guys shouldn’t have to wait much longer and I chose Davis.
@Jehkobe you should just cancel your wait list of you already choose Davis. You might be taking away someone’s place if they don’t try to replace you
I am of the mindset that I have already been rejected. I think it’s just better to see things as the way they likely are.
Wait so has no one heard back yet at all? Like accepted students and rejected off the wait list?
I checked yesterday and this was what I saw:

Now, I did put myself on the waitlist earlier this year, so it seems that they moved to rejecting me
And you were originally on the waitlist?
Btw pretty sure you were more than qualified they probably couldnt let you in based on the major you chose. Engineering schools are often very limited.
A trick you can use is to check twitter, search up if people are tweeting “ucsb accepted” i check that often and nothing comes out but i tried “uc accepted” a couple days ago and people with davis, Berkeley, and ucla were popping up idk if san diego too, but yea like people have said on here they are probably accepting off those top schools first then they’re gonna accept off the next best so ucsb could be next. I havent heard back But more than likely we will start knowing by next week.
@orion23 Yep, I was on the waitlist originally.
Not sure if it would be appropriate to post my stats here though (and if I do, I’m not sure what to put down).
I just checked my portal and it still looks the same as it has. I appealed and my appeal status is still at pending and my admission status is still at wait list candidate.
@jabashque Did you receive an email from UCSB saying that a decision was posted to your portal? I’m pretty sure that they were supposed to send you one if your status happened to change?
@theportraitofthe Nope, I never got any email from them at all. I wasn’t aware of my rejection until I checked the portal.
@metalmonk28 I completely agree with @nattycat66 if you have already decided that you would not go to UCSB you should send them an email or call the admission office to ask to be taken of. I am on two wait lists, and to hear that you want to stay on simply for the sake of it(and your frequent activity on this forum only tells me that you are just staying on the wait list to see if you were accepted) saddens me. Your decision to just stay on the wait list literally affects everyone on it. If they were to accept you then that means that another applicant will have to wait longer to hear back. If that said applicant is on a wait list at another school and they happen to get off the wait list there(since it seems as though all the other schools are starting to release them except UCSB) and they decide to put down another non refundable deposit at the new school(not to mention the non refundable housing deposit) then you are costing them. In this scenario you are looking at 3 different non refundable deposits and 3 non refundable housing deposits. You are costing other applicants thousands of dollars by staying on the wait list. Do all of us that REALLY REALLY REALLY want to attend a favor, get off of the wait list.
@jabashque That’s really strange! When I checked your photo, the wait list tab was just gone! Engineering is a very impacted major so maybe they filled all the spots? Where will you be attending/where did you put your deposit down at? After reading paragraphs that were in the photo, I am guessing that you will be offered admission at UC Merced(or have you already been offered admission?) Are you on any other wait lists.
@theportraitofthe It is strange, indeed. I SIR’d to UCSC, but I’m still waiting for UCSD and UCI waitlists, heh. Maybe UCSB did fill out all their Engineering slots, but that’s only speculation until someone else applying for the College of Engineering also posts that he or she got rejected.
@theportraitofthe sure I would go to UCSB if I got in. Just being realistic about the matter right now. We know one person on this thread got in.
