Did we have to do anything as waitlisted students? I’ve realized i’ve missed the housing application and haven’t sent my transcript because i did those for the school i comitted too.
@pacers8 Hey man, great job! Your story gives me hope and makes me want to check my portal, but I’m still really scared.
got rejected yesterday, and wanted to help give an idea of where everyone was standing, because i definitely could have used that earlier
GPA: 4.08
ACT: 33
In-State
my appeal is still pending and so is my waitlist decision. in-state applicant.
ACT: 31
UC GPA: 4.08
multiple ECs including a lot of volunteer hours
Still on the waitlist: SAT 1460, UC GPA 4.50, multiple ECs, 1200 hours community service
It is not possible to appeal after getting denied from the waitlist right? A friend was saying it is possible but I highly doubt it.
Yes, in state and it’s a known fact, the UC’s would rather take a foreign student who pays more tuition than an in-state student. then you throw in the quotas for the 3.0 ers, affirmative action and that leaves less spots for the CA residents who pay taxes.
The UC’s were given autonomy to run their school system by statute, that was very clever by the founders of the system so kudos to them for lining up a system that would benefit them in the long run. The UCs don’t have to be held accountable for their admission policy because they are self-governed, But they can sure extend their hand and ask the governor for funding from our tax payer dollars.
@Moises there’s no affirmative action at UCS per voter initiative.
@Moises This is not a thread for you to rant on. This is for students to communicate effectively and discuss the waitlist. I’m sorry your son got rejected, but please find somewhere else to talk about the “unjust” UC school system.
rejected for cognitive science. no email notification, just checked out of the blue
Anyone hear anything this morning? I was hoping for some acceptances today after the bloodbath on Friday.
I haven’t heard anything… anyone call today?
Sadly @moises is right about one part. http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-uc-audit-admissions-20160328-story.html
Are we even sure that there will be a wave of acceptances? Has anyone called?
Are you guys mostly freshmen or transfers?
@WinstonZayne we really aren’t sure if there will be, whenever people call they just say “mid may”
@ctehin I think mostly freshman but im not entirely sure
This is not a forum for you tell me what I can or can’t say I can state my opinion if you don’t like it then move on but you can’t tell me what I can or can’t say
Correct that’s what they say but then they have programs like the promise scholar, which admits students that show promise to be great. Anyway I am not trying to convince anyone of what I believe in just making my comments of what I have knowledge about.
@rozokobo - we’re doing just that. SBCC → either Davis or UCSC. But of course if he does get off the waitlist…
