@WinstonZayne during those years they have still notified by the beginning of May. I think this year there will be very, very limited spots. Also it seems very unlikely that someone was accepted a while ago unless they were one of the two people admitted…
Wow that’s so unfortunate… not even any appeals accepted yet. If anyone has called recently, maybe even today please update on any news, this is brutal.
I plan on calling after school today. Anyone have any questions they’d like me to ask?
@dood523 ya you should ask them if they do plan on accepting at least some people off the waitlist and also when we should be hearing back from them.
Just called and all the lady told me is that she only knew info from a few weeks ago - students may have to wait til June to be notified and they did not know if they were going to accept anyone off the waitlist yet. If anyone sees this before 4pm pls call and see if you reach anyone else that might have some more info
Just got denied
Same here
Me too
Ditto
Very disappointed in the UC system. How is a 4.56 GPA not good enough to get into UCSB? Great kids being denied while others are getting in. Makes no sense.
4.56 signifies grade inflation…what were test scores, extracurriculars? What makes the applicant unique? Are they applying for impacted major? Did they attend a competitive high school or less competitive? How rigorous was their transcript? Admissions are not just based on grades.
I got rejected from the waitlist! Sat: 1270, Gpa of 3.98
Sunnyschool: 9 AP classes, 1460 SAT, National Honor Society, Valedictorian, Varsity sport for 3 years, over 1200 hours of community service, black belt in karate, 4 years of school leadership - is that enough or do you need more?
Someone from my son’s school only got accepted to UCSB out of all UCs he applied
to with GPA 4.45 and ACT 33 last year.
He was on varsity sport team, Eagle Scout, in band, leadership etc…
We just did not get it.
Was he caucasian? UC schools discriminate against certain ethnicities.
@EV2017: Race/Ethnicity is not a consideration by the UC’s for admissions purposes. Not sure where you got your information.
There should be more waitlist spots coming out soon… a few students, more specifically around 8, declined spots, including me.
@yojhooo are you a freshman?
I’ll be an incoming undergrad freshmen @ Cal. Class of 2022.
@Ginge0422 That SAT is actually low for a valedictorian. Schools sometimes are actually averse to admitting valedictorians. The fact is they want a diverse student body and that means not just stats, but also interests, EC’s, etc. There’s also less value placed on NHS now because different schools all have different criteria for NHS.
Your student may have looked like too many other candidates. Plus depends on the major applying for.
