Is UCSB harder to get into out of state? How big of a campus is it, and can you walk to all classes?any description would be great. I'm chem e btw. Chem E is great there right?

Also my Aunt went there will that help me in admissions? Thanks in advance

All UCs are hard to get into for OOS. Students ride bikes on and around campus - it seems like most of them do. It’s a beautiful campus. That your aunt attended, it won’t help you get in. Yes Chem-E is good there.

Do you have any admissions stats for oos?

Also can you pay $55K/year? No financial aid for OOS.

Yeah. Is that why there is such a low percentage of OOS students? Is it actually harder to be admitted OOS than in state or is it just that few can pay 55k a year?

1) OOS applicants are required to have a higher minimum GPA just to apply to the UC’s (3.4 vs in-state 3.0)
2) UC’s are funded by California taxpayers, so in-state students get priority along with FA.
3) Yes, the high price tag of $55K/year is a big deterrent for many OOS applicants.
4) Some OOS applicants have difficulty meeting the UC a-g required courses.
