UCSB's College for Creative Studies Literature Major

I was wondering if anybody could tell me something about the Literature major at CCS? I understand that admissions had been frozen in 2014 and that the major has since been re-vamped and will now be the Writing and Literature major, accepting its first cohort of freshman students this fall.

Most of the posts I’ve seen about CCS are related to the math and science programs (e.g., computing, physics, biology, math), but there is little mention of the literature program – either what it used to be, why it is changing, and what it is becoming as it is restructured. I have scoured the website and know what is there, but I was hoping for an insider’s perspective.

Are there any literature majors lurking about or others at CCS that could give me a sense of the program’s history and future of the Writing and Literature major? I understand that the overall concept of CCS is to be a “graduate school for undergraduates,” which sounds ideal, although my daughter is more interested in literary analysis, research, and scholarship than she is in creative writing, so the soon-to-be newly incarnated major might not be a great fit. Or might it?

Thanks in advance!
