Well i really like the setting of UCSC.
its the perfect location..
i dont wanna sound weird or anything, but i want my college experience to be amazing.
like parties, clubs, stuff like that.
is there any good parties at ucsc? like, for anyone that goes there, do you guys have 'FUN' like with other ppl and stuff? lol. cuz idk how ucsc is..
because, i WILL study hard, but i wanna enjoy as well.
please let me know. haha, thanks.

I think UCSB is a bit more of the party atmosphere that you are looking for. UCSC has the sound of more of a hippie school. Princeton Review ranked it #11 for Birkenstock-Wearing, Tree-Hugging, Clove-Smoking Vegetarians and #6 for Reefer Madness. Here is a description of the "Campus Life"

“There really is a ton to do” in the area surrounding UCSC, “especially if you like being outdoors.” Thanks to the sprawling, lush campus, students don’t even have to leave school grounds to “explore caves, climb a huge tree in the forest, or walk or bike or jog.” With their campus located “right on the coast” students “love to go to the beach for fun” and “A lot of students also take up surfing.” The party scene on and off campus consists of “mostly decentralized, smaller parties, due to the near-absence of fraternities and sororities.” It also includes “a lot of drug use” that is limited to “specific locations” and “easy to avoid” for abstaining students. Since Santa Cruz is a “small city,” students “have to be inventive” when it comes to finding entertainment. Many students cite a “fun nightlife” with a “number of clubs and bars that cater mostly to the younger crowd.” There are also “lots of galleries” in Santa Cruz for students who are into art. Ambitious students “may head to San Jose or San Francisco on the weekend for a more rowdy bar or club scene.” Both cities are “readily accessible via public transportation.”

Yup UCSB is notorious for being a party school, or a "safety school" for those in the Santa Barbara area.

Some say that UCSC is a bit too fun, if you get what I mean. ;)

UCSB is a safety school? haha, the only kids that got in from my school had about a 4.2 GPA and 2000+ on the SAT's.

That doesn't necessarily speak to its difficulty. Your school isn't representative of the applicant pool. ;)

UCSB is a safety if you're an ELC student. It's also a safety for some students not in the top 4%.

I've partied at UCSC and I had a great time. The campus is really nice and the weather is incredible. The social scene is quite good in Santa Cruz. Santa Barbara can be a bit overwhelming because Isla Vista is made up of not only UCSB students, but also about 30,000 kids who go to SBCC. UCSB is a very fun school and the location is even better than that of UCSC. UCSB has gotten quite difficult to get into though.

UCSB is the only Cali school with its own private beach, apparently :)

i see..
cuz i really wanna go to santa cruz but i wanna party. and have fun with girls and stuff like that too.
get me? hopefully i can :)
i know UCSB is a party school but theres something about UCSC that makes me wanna go there..

I think you can definitely have fun at UCSC, it sounds like you are very eager to go there and I would definitely recommend it.

^^ no, but they're not easy to get into (UCSB is probably harder, though).

^^ I'd say they're reaches. GPA is very important, and an in-state student would need about a 3.6 to get into UCSB. UC is supposed to be for the top 12.5% of high school students, but UCR is the only non-selective UC (meaning it admits all who are qualified).

I remember a UC-Davis admissions counselor posting saying that location (in-state or out-of-state) isn't a criteria at all in admission.

Have you considered UCSD? It's a good college, and most of my "fun" friends ended up going there. The smart ones got into UCB.

Two friends of mine go to UCSC. They blaze every day, but other than the good bud they get up there, it's really boring, from what they say.
Ask people that go there. That's your best bet.

well thats cool but i dont think i have the grades for something like UCSD.
and im really sotked about UCSC.
but like i want the full college experience, you know?
like.. i want to get a good education but go to parites here and there.. hook up with girls and do stuff.. ;] haha you guys get me?
and im hoping UCSC has all that and can make college fun.. but im not 100% sure about that..
any info bout that??^^
you guys think i can do that at UCSC?
cuz i mean everywhere u go theres gonna be party people but yeah im just wondering

k00lkid, Read reviews of the school found on the Princeton Review, watch videos from TheU.com, and get a feel for the experience at UCSC. There's a plethora of info out there.

oh they say something about nightlife outside the schoool.
hopefully its a school where you can really have fun ;]]

:]] bumppp
