To start off, i'm an international student from belgium who got accepted to ucsc for fall 2014.

So i got accepted to ucsc and i was supposed to send my Hs transcripts afteri graduated and the deadline was the first of august. Since in Belgium we graduate in late June I told my director to send them as soon as I graduated( 23 june) and thats exactly what he did.

On the 1st of august they said they it might take some time before they can confirm that they actually received my transcripts. Suddenly, the 24th of July ucsc sends me an email that if my transcripts are not sent before the 1st of august they will revoke my admission. So i immediatley start panicking and i call my Hs counselor who was on vacation to tell him to send the transcripts again, which again he did that same day.
However since it is being sent from belgium it might take a few days before it arrives and now we are past the first of august and they actually revoked my admission!!!!

Now, I told them that it wasn't my fault because my director send the transcripts TWICE and they said that i had to talk to the admissions evaluator.

Do you think they might not give me my admission back even though it was something completely out of my hands??
I mean i did everything i could, my director sent it TWICE!!

This shouldn’t be an issue. I would also ask for a signed letter from your HS with the dates that the transcript was sent and the address to which they were sent.

Maybe it got lost in the mail…Which type of mail did you order? For stuff this sensitive, paying for the tracking option is worth it. Is there a way to request this now at your post office/mailing company?? How about asking your counselor to give you some copies (sealed/official) & then you mail them yourself? Something similar happened to my transcripts as well…I was grateful to have ordered some extra copies for myself. Can you spare some $20-40 dollars (or the Belgian equivalent) for quick shipping?

Also, try calling the school & explaining again? Sometimes it’s less about school policy and more about which person you talk to…Maybe you’ll get someone more lenient this time.

Thanks a lot for the answers!

Did you end up getting it sorted out, Haniman1? I would be surprised if they didn’t work with you on this one.

Sorry for the late answer, but actually no it didn’t work out. My high school counselor even wrote a letter saying it was all his fault, but I guess just not meant to be. The director of admissions was not helpful. Devastated at first but then looked at my options and thought a CC would not be a bad option… Anyways I’m at a community college now and hopefully transferring to my dream schools in the future… Using santa cruz as my motivation now :D

I’m very sorry - it sounds like your counselor actually did not send the transcripts after all and despite the mea culpa, the college didn’t care. I am so sorry that you bore the brunt of this - but it sounds like you have a great outlook in life and are focusing on the positive. We wish you the best of luck in your future.
