@BEEFCAKE if you google “UCSC Spring Yield 2020” and scroll down a tiny bit to the Printed Materials section it says it
@kuzco5269 it is interesting. On that “UCSC Spring Yield 2020” website it says February 15th, and the portal says “mid-February”. But on the undergraduate admissions page labeled “Dates and Deadlines” it says “March 15-31:
Fall 2020 admissions decisions appear on my.ucsc.edu for all on-time freshmen applicants”
I guess we can only wait and see
@OceansV2 @kuzco5269: UCSC usually sends out Regent scholarship recipients their admission package around this time along with a Honors College (Scholars) invite around this time. Most Freshman decisions will be posted in March.
@Gumbymom So if I were a Regent scholarship recipient it would come in the mail and not the portal?
@kuzco5269: usually email notification followed by a snail mail acceptance package.
Anxiously waiting to hear in NJ! Hope decisions are released soon.
I wish UCSC would have a specific date with fall admissions release instead of rolling dates. What is everyone doing to make the time pass by until decisions? I never knew this would be stressful to wait.
Does anyone know when decisions will begin to release? The email from admissions says mid-February but the UCSC website says March 15 so I’m confused. I hope it’s this month!
We personally haven’t heard anything yet, but were told there would be some admission decisions released starting mid-February.
I saw that UCSC web page about “Spring Yield” that announced that information would go out starting mid-February, but I noticed that, last year, people started hearing around February 27 about early admittance. It seemed like a two-day window of Early Admits, and then the rest of the folks didn’t hear about admission until March. This seems to be the same pattern for UCI, which had two days of admits to Honors College, and then there has been nothing since then.
I called Admissions today and was told March 15th. My daughter’s high school counselor says it could be anytime between this week and March 15th.
My son is a freshman at UCSC and he reports the protests have not had much impact on the students. Students are generally supportive of their TAs. Some classes were cancelled and some moved. Grades were not posted for Fall in a few classes but when my son needed his for a scholarship, the TA posted it. The housing is fine. Students get 2 years on campus then have to move off campus. Off campus is reported to actually be cheaper per person because they pile into apts and houses at the same sq ft per person as the dorms. The issue they don’t like is they don’t like to still be crammed into small spaces for the full 4 years but having their own room is too costly. There is an active UCSC parents facebook group that can help you navigate after your student is accepted.
Thanks so much! We come to the Carmel-Monterey area a lot so were wondering about situation even if our daughter did not end up there. (although my fingers are crossed!)
I will cross my fingers for you too. He absolutely loves it up there and he got accepted all over the state. But, at UCSC is it all about hiking, biking, the redwoods etc. The kids are super nice, warm and welcoming. They are so supportive of one another. But, I also teach at CSU Monterey Bay and live on campus… yes, we are spoiled living in this area.
Are we expecting any decisions to be released on Wednesday (2/26)? Last year, people started posting on 2/27/19, which was the last Wednesday of February.
You’re so lucky to live in the area. It is so incredibly beautiful. My daughter is really into hiking so the area appealed to her. However, she’s at a high school without AP classes so she doesn’t have the crazy high GPA that UCs look for. Even still we are hopeful…
This post is a suggestion from @jjjz2020
I think a lot of parents are on the various CC forums, you might suggest to them that after their child selects their school, they might benefit from joining the independently-run parent’s Facebook group for help with the transition questions. For example, there is one called UC Santa Cruz Parents which was very helpful to me as my child prepared for his freshman year. Many schools have them but some are run by the school and some are run by parents primarily for parents.
Two years ago early admits went out 2/23 (A Friday) and last year 2/27 (a Wednesday)
So any time this week would be in that window.
Hi guys! Check your portals! I just got my admission decision! I got in
My daughter just got her acceptance email!
