Ucsc class of 2024 discussion thread

@B2BChamps @sauidfhya94r5 Congratulations!! Can you share stats and in/out state please. Here or on admission thread.

My understanding is that these acceptance emails roll out over several days, correct? Has anyone been able to detect in the past any rhyme or reason to the roll-out? Is it based on major? Is it alphabetical? Are people also being accepted into Honors Programs at the same time? I hope it’s not alphabetical, as my son’s last name starts with “B!” However, someone said that for the main release of admissions that it is often rolled out alphabetically, or at least it was in the past. @sauidfhya94r5 and @B2BChamps, may I ask whether your last names are towards one end of the alphabet or another?

Mine is near the beginning of the alphabet and is pretty high stats. No word here. I wouldn’t worry yet.

@NorCalsoccermom my D is later in the alphabet, but I wouldn’t read too much into this. I’m not an expert but it appears these are early admits, I think the bulk of acceptances are still coming. Good luck!

Yes, I was referring specifically to the Early Admits part of the process. I had thought my son might have a chance for admittance as an Early Admit.

@NorCalsoccermom I was thinking same for mine.

Does anyone know if the decision is sent out via Email or posted on the portal? Thanks!

Both. But it’ll show up on the portal first.

Anyone hear? We haven’t gotten anything in NJ yet!

I found this link about the admission stat for UCSC: https://mediafiles.ucsc.edu/iraps/admissions/frosh-admissions-reports-2014-2019.pdf

It is very surprising that OOS and international student acceptant rates are much hight than that of CA students!

@xiaobaomama2020: All UC’s have higher acceptance rates for OOS and International students but the yield rate is low due to the high costs of the UC’s.

Admission Rates for California Applicants:
UCLA: 11.8%
UC Berkeley: 19.2%
UC Irvine: 21.3%
UC Santa Barbara: 26.9%
UC San Diego: 27.6%
UC Davis: 35.5%
UC Santa Cruz: 42.5%
UC Riverside: 55.8%
UC Merced: 77%

Admission Rates for Out-of-State Applicants (Domestic):
UCLA: 16.5%
UC Berkeley: 17.1%
UC Santa Barbara: 38.7%
UC Irvine: 44.2%
UC San Diego: 59.6%
UC Davis: 62.8%
UC Merced: 72.4%
UC Riverside: 73.9%
UC Santa Cruz: 85.5%

Admission Rates for International Applicants:
UCLA: 8.49%
UC Berkeley: 9.16%
UC San Diego: 29.7%
UC Santa Barbara: 34.6%
UC Irvine: 40.5%
UC Davis: 42.1%
UC Merced: 50.3%
UC Riverside: 69.5%
UC Santa Cruz: 74.5%

just checked my portal and i got in

@cjd114 What does your last name start with? I heard they are releasing it by order of last name.

D, and I don’t think they are because I know some people with better stats and last names that begin with A or B that haven’t gotten in

@cjd114 Thank you that’s very relieving! Also, Congrats!!!

@cjd114 Congratulations! what is your major, and are you in-state or OOS?

@cjd114 - Congratulations! ? Was there financial information included or only the acceptance?

I’m curious if AP scores may help balance a low ACT score?
My daughter’s highest ACTs unfortunately weren’t taken with writing.
But she did score 4’s on two AP tests.
Wondering if that might help her chances.

DS got in. In state, CS major. No financial information noted since we did not apply for it. Our last name starts with a letter that is late in the alphabet order, so I don’t think last names has anything to do with the release order?

Daughter just got in! Cognitive Science major. I think her stats are something like 4.32 weighted GPA and 3.93 Unweighted and SAT was 1220? In-state. Last name, well its well at the end. Maybe its based on majors the way they are releasing. No financial aid info.
