@Annabelley where are you transferring from? Could it be that maybe some of your classes don’t transfer and so they won’t be counting them?
@Mznl8090 A rep from UCSC told me specifically that changing your spring schedule from the one reported would void your tag. They will then evaluate your app based on normal procedures. Good luck!
Wtf? Are you serious? I tagged UCSC and I changed one class-- it’s the same exact class just at a different campus. Had I known that it would cost me my TAG I wouldn’t have done it. That’s crazy. Now i could potentially not even get in? I’m so worried ):
Damn that sucks!
^^^lol.
Yeah that does suck. I’m sorry to hear
That scared me so I went back to my UCTAP to try and find where it states that all classes listed for TAG have to be completed and it said this in my TAG acceptance:
“Your approved TAG includes a guarantee of your proposed major, provided all courses listed as in-progress and planned are completed as indicated on your TAG application. Changes to your course schedule for major foundation requirements will void your TAG agreement.”
I’m a bit confused. The first sentence makes it seem like you can’t change any classes from the ones listed for TAG but the second part seems like it should only void it if it’s a prerequisite… Idk, what do you guys think?
@VanessaNuno you’re fine. As long as you complete the class you stated then it doesn’t matter. Campus choice makes no difference unless it’s a difference in units. Difference in units indicates number of hours spent in class and how much you actually learn.
@Mznl8090 @VanessaNuno I emailed admissions asking about changing classes for TAG. I’ll let you guys know when I hear back from them!
@futureeechick I’m applying from another UC so they should all be transferable. I got an email back saying that only the classes I originally included, (before I ha access to my Spring Semester classes) were counted but that campuses would look at the classes I update since then. So I think I’m good.
@uchopeful414 @avery760 thanks guys, this makes me feel better. I called admissions and spoke to a representative who told me that it wouldn’t void the TAG contract but I don’t know what to think anymore… The person I spoke to didnt sound too confident but it makes sense to me that if it is the same class that I should be fine. It’s not even a prerequisite for my major its just a philosophy igetc class
@avery760 Ah, you’re a saint! Thanks so much… Keeping my fingers crossed!
@VanessaNuno @Mznl8090 so I just got off the phone with an admission rep! She told me that even though the site says that all approved TAG applicants got their acceptances yesterday it’s actually not accurate. Even those with an approved TAG could hear back as late as April 30th. I also asked if listing a course in TAG and changing it in the spring voided TAG and she said “not necessarily”. She sounded a bit uncertain but that if it wasn’t a prerequisite and the TAU was updated on time it shouldn’t be a problem. Hopefully she’s right!
Don’t e-mail UCSC for questions, lmao. I got some message that told me they clearly didn’t read my e-mail at all.
I wrote:
“Hello! I just have a quick question about the transfer requirements for psychology majors, in particular the Psych 2: Introduction to Psychological Statistics class. It says on the Assist agreement that a B- or better is needed for that course in order to be considered for admission. Unfortunately, I missed the mark of a B- by a couple of percentage points and my official grade, as according to my community college, is a C. I have not yet received an admissions decision, so I am curious to know if a chance of admission is still possible and/or what would happen should I be admitted to your institution with the C in Psych 2. Thank you for any information you can give me!”
They responded with:
“Hello -, You must submit a new Transfer application Update through the application website. Sincerely, UCSC Admissions.”
;))
Hey you all. I know UCSC results were supposed to come in already… but I checked the UCSC portal and I haven’t got any message. Should I be worried or just wait it out? Is this normal?
@tooweirdyo A lot of people, including me, haven’t received decisions either, so don’t worry.
@tooweirdyo The rolling notifications began yesterday but they’ll be sending them out until April 30th. Nothing to worry about!
Anyone here a Biology major? I’m getting anxious about a reply. Still haven’t gotten anything yet…
@Mznl8090 I had also emailed my community college’s UCSC admission rep and this seems like the most concrete and reliable answer I’ve gotten so far about TAG with different courses:
"Thank you for your email. Our campus began releasing our decisions for transfer students on March 17 and will continue to release decisions on a rolling basis through April 30. Please be patient while our office works to evaluate our applications.
Any change in your fall or spring schedule will void a TAG agreement. However, our campus will review your application and as long as you are still meeting the requirements, we will be able to offer you admission.
I hope this helps answer your questions."
So it sounds like we’re good!
I got admitted!
Major: Robotics
GPA: 2.88
Prereqs: Finished
TAG: no
EC: part time tutor
I went to two schools before applying. I did poorly the first school, but did really well for the second school. Also, how did everybody check what major they got into? I can’t find it on the website. I had to call.
^^^wow. I am impressed.
And you can only apply to one major at UCSC so that should answer your questions:)
